The Confederate Navy Museum in Columbus GA. The Ironclad Cairo (the boat itself) in Vicksburg MS.
In Laurel Mississippi the art museum has a Thomas Moran painting from before his famous days. It's always interesting to see the evolution of artists we like.
(Speaking of : watch for the grand reopening of the refurbished Gilcrease in Tulsa OK.)
There is even a museum of wrought iron in Memphis.

TLDR: what do you want a museum to be: art, history, stuff?

The Berman Museum in Anniston, AL is pretty cool. They have a big collection of weapons from ancient times up through WW2. Lots of spy weapons and gadgets like a flute gun and belt buckle pistols. Some Hitler paraphernalia like his tea service.

Pretty cool place if you are interested in weapons. They also have (used to anyways) a nice collection of natural history stuff and ancient Asian art.

Good museum. Worth going to see. The National Infantry Museum is also nearby on Fort Benning/Moore/Benning. The Infantry Museum is well worth seeing.

Daughter lives in Ft Walton bout 4 miles from there between the 2 bridges on Eglin Parkway...

Great museum with a ton of static displays outside. Blackbird, B-52, buncha WWII bombers and fighters, Vietnam era planes etc. prolly at least 50-75 outside...
