At the end of August. Last event on Espn is tonight. Then what? Boxing should be making themselves more accessible to compete with Ufc.

When Prime Boxing Champions started it was intended to bring boxing back to masses.

Btw Espns contract with Ufc ends in December.

Probably has more to do with ESPN than Top Rank.
However, boxing has been such a disjointed mess for years…. They killed themselves.

Well PBC had corrupt, snake oil salesmen running it. Truly unfortunate boxing will not have a home as of now on ESPN.

Turki will eventually have “The Ring” as the official work title for boxing and all will be right.

Loosing Tuesday Night and Friday Night Fights killed boxing. You would see up and comers for free during the week. Then, when they won a few matches, you would see them on hbo. But then everything became pay-per-view which sucks. I miss boxing

The ufc has such a great model. Boxing has a product that can be exciting but there is no structure.

USA’s Tuesday Night Fights with Sean O’Grady was the bomb, back in the day. I loved when it would air from The Blue Horizon in Philadelphia!

I remember as a kid when my dad started watching the Spanish language channel because Boxeo! was the only boxing left on regular TV.

They would constantly advertise during Monday Night Raw - I knew all about boxing even though I rarely ever watched it. My grandpa loved telling me all about it and I'd tell him stuff like "Yeah he fought on USA a few weeks ago" and would absolutely light up.

I do remember those days. And Saturday afternoon fights on CBS.

I realize that with all the streaming services we won't return to those days.
But boxing has become a mess as someone else said. So many organizations and belts.

And the judging has no consistency. How do these judges see the same fight totally different? Incompetence or corruption?

ESPN is ditching Top Rank. They don’t need to align with specific promotions anymore they can just pick and choose what fights they want to bid on and show regardless of Promoter. DAZN is basically the ‘new’ HBO for Boxing which sucks because their production quality and announcers are severely lacking. Boxing is extremely hot in Europe right now. Look how many European champions there are across all weight classes.

I miss when boxing was on HBO and Showtime regularly, plus Friday Night Fights on ESPN.

Top Rank / ESPN was great during Covid. Getting Furry involved was incredible. Boxing actually got fun and was pushing toward establishing itself again…..and the Anthony Joshua got dropped by Andy Ruiz before the Fury fight. When that fight didn’t happen it derailed the heavyweights.

There’s some serious talent in the younger weights. Canelo, Crawford, Stevenson, Tank, but none want to fight each other until their past their primes. It’s way too long between good fights.

Usyk is technically / power damn near flawless, but he’s boring. Seems like a good dude.

AGREEED!

Canelo waited way too long dodging GGG for many years before finally fighting him when he got older!.......
..... Still GGG Won a Close fight; but good ole boy Shady Golden Shower productions deemed the Bout a DRAW =, complete BS!

Usyk dropped the "boring" label when he KO'd Dubois it the 5th Round last Saturday.

And dude can actually dance too

DAZN/Turki are ditching the PPV model. Top Rank PPV were the only cash ESPN was making on boxing, so it makes sense that they ditch Top Rank when they can't compete anymore.

If Turki pulls this off and Boxing no longer puts the best fights on PPV (even it's on a streaming platform) it will be the best move for Boxing since....ever.

I know American audiences haven't come back to boxing, but there have been some seriously good fights over the last few years just because Turki came in and paid the promoters to GTFO the way.

Anybody who ever thought Usyk was boring needs to stick to UFC. They don't have the intelligence to appreciate boxing. The dude can fight 12 rounds and may not have one clinch.

PPV ruined boxing for not only the casual viewer but for a lot of hard core boxing fans. I've followed boxing since I was a kid back in the late 50's watching fights from Madison Square Garden live on TV on Friday nights.

I refuse to pay $75 to $100 for a PPV card no matter who is fighting and there are hardly any title fights now that aren't PPV.
