and even the special teams are great with experience and blazing return players and kickers. But can CBK, Sloan and Blake Baker take this team to the NC or even the playoffs? The players are there, the only question is OL, but we have some bad asses there to. What say you?

The team will go as far as the O-line takes them. I think they struggle at first having no experience as a unit, but get better as the year goes on.

Playoffs = Definitely
NC - see notes above

Whether we go 11-1 or 8-4 depends on the offensive line and injuries. We have more talent than everyone on our schedule outside Bama and Clemson but have better coaching than them

I think the o-line will take a little step backwards in pass pro but be worlds better with run blocking. Especially with the two transfers at TE.

Which makes me think we'll struggle @Clemson in the opener going against that D-line.

LSU does have a lot of talent but so does Clem,Fla,OM,Ala,A@M etc.Remember that when you get all emotional after a loss.

Everyone counting portal guys as sure things needs to taper a bit. Hopefully, they're all great. But a lot of confidence on this board is based on guys who haven't played a down yet for us.

The offensive line is going to have to prove it to me.

At least 3 SEC teams have more talent than LSU does. Bama, UGA, and Texas have, by any objective measure, more talent on their teams than LSU does. If LSU finishes 1-2-3 in the SEC, we will make the cfp. We MIGHT make the cfp if we finish 4th in the SEC.

The good news for LSU in the SEC is that we do not play Texass or UGA. The bad news is we open at Clemson who is very talented.

"Playoffs or Bust"

This team needs to make the playoffs (barring a critical injury or rash of injuries).....anything short of that is a bust, especially this many seasons into Kelly's career here.

All the bad asses departed for the NFL. No bad asses with any significant experience return. Thompson and Moore are the only hope, outside of Sloan scheming the Offense to duplicate 2019 where the QB is getting the ball out of his hand very fast so the OL doesn't have to hold their blocks too long........

We MUST run the ball effectively and take the pressure off the pass game....
We no longer have a mobile QB......ball control will be the difference this year.

And can the players become a team? Can they gel? Can they come together and play as one?

________

We need a decent running game, but nobody seems to be talking about picks. Nuss had 12 last year. If he cuts than in half, we likely win an extra game or two.

I used to fall into that trap a lot. After looking at our roster I couldnt fathom losing a game until I realized what the other teams had on theirs…

I am an old man who has seen a lot of football - relative in CFP HOF as HC including Rams.

Breaking in a new Long Snapper should scare anyone - but particularly if Brian Kelly is the HC.

Seen too many opening game disasters re LS - particularly on road.
