I think taco but never know. Portfolio up 10% ytd which seems insane and not sustainable. Thinking of parking cash now till august to see what will happen.

I think everyone on this forum is in agreement with me that you should definitely time the market. Always time the market.

I think I’ll just keep to my investment schedule and leave the worrying to everyone else

He's been holding cash since January. Which, as much as he bitches about money in the OT, I'm beginning to think the only cash he's holding is a couple nickels and maybe some monopoly money.

No. I’m not smart enough to time the market.

I just keep buying weekly, bi-weekly and monthly. If I have extra cash in a HYSA and good buying opportunity comes up I’ll throw cash into the market in a lump sum.

I started to find his threads more enjoyable when I started reading his posts with an Oxbridge accent and envisioned him wearing a top hat and a monocle.

Everything is so high right now. I have cash on the side and waiting for a pullback.

The market has been on fire so I'm don't know your YTD is only 10%. My YTD is 22% and I believe mine is low too given how good the market has been performing. I'm mostly in dividend producing ETFs though so that might be the difference.

You need to come to terms with 2 factors.

1. The DOLLAR Is losing value. We have too many dollars chasing too few assets. Price will go up because of this.

2. We are in the golden age of AI. Market is already pricing this in.

Expect number go up for the next 10 years. Enjoy.

This makes no sense to do this if you are a long term investor. Yes, the market could go down, that's what happens sometimes. How are you going to feel if the market goes up say 5% in the next month?

Also, if you sell from a taxable account, you are going to have to pay capital gains taxes on your profits. You will then buy back in and when you look back, it won't look so great after paying those taxes.

All of the experts agree, trying to time the market is for fools. Even the pros cannot do it.
