Sources say Pearce and Waititi both grew up with the books and are friends who have been trying to find a project to work on together for years.
The logline is being kept under the visor, but the pitch is said to take inspiration more from the comics than the previous screen iterations, leaning into the world-building and dark humor. It is also meant to be a fun sci-fi blockbuster that nonetheless speaks to this moment in culture. The desire is to see the movie launch a Dredd universe that could be explored with additional movies and shows across various platforms.

Welp, a movie that deserved a sequel gets something far worse.
Sucks.
Sucks.

It was greatness.

For the ultra casual MCU fan (me), it was great. Fun action, characters and visuals...

Oh goodie, this hack gets to frick up another comic franchise.

This is so sad. They had done it. Dredd was perfect. All they had to do was get the same guys together and go. Instead they hired one of the most overrated hacks in Hollywood

You're not alone, my brother. I'm right there with you.
Wakawaka will ruin Dredd. This is just stupid

I didn't know Drew Pearce's work.
This does not give me high hopes.

This is bad news. Whoever directed the first one should do this one. That one was really good.

God bless Waititi, but that last Dredd movie was perfection. They might get big names and have better ticket sales but that last film was the way to go to make a great Dredd film.

A few years ago, before Love & Thunder, I generally liked Taika's off beat brand of comedy.
TBH, I'm not even a Dredd fan, but I can guess as to how the fandom thinks of this. Horrific.

Yeah I thought Ragnarok was very fun. Not sure how his humor translates to Dredd. I really liked the first dredd and it didn’t need to shift tone.
