Maurice Carter. He was on some terrible teams and we almost beat Kentucky at home, when Kentucky was very good. Maurice kept us in the game. That was the game Coach Tubby went into our locker room after the game and complimented the team on how well and how hard they played.

I think you must have meant Ollie (Oliver) Brown.
Occe (Ossie Brown was a prominent lawyer).
Two other players in the early Brown era were Ed LeBlanc and a player named Mike (I think) Darnell

think of unsung as not getting enough credit. Lazare got too much credit for one good game IMHO. I hated to see that guy come in the game for us.

But at least he was the funniest on the team.

I always thought that Brad Bridgewater pre-injury was always a little underrated.

One of my favorites was Lionel "Tree" Green. I was sitting behind the opposing teams bench one game. We were beating them by about 30 points.

After one possession Tree was walking back to the other side and passed right in front of the opposing teams bench. They were talking smack to him. He stopped right in front of their bench, pointed up to the scoreboard, and said "Look at the score you idiots".

Lionel is from New Iberia and played on some very strong High School teams there. I think every member of the starting 5 his senior year played college ball. He was a "lunch-pail" type of guy at LSU that quietly went about his business. Played on Dale's first "Sweet 16" team.

How could JOHN TUDOR not be on this list? He cost UNC a NC in 83 by hammering Kenny Smith on a breakaway...broke his wrist...some guy named Jordan went after Tudor...had to be seperated. Tudor was an animal defensively, and wound up being a very good college player

Tyrone Black,
Willie Sims
Dennis Brown
Greg "cookieman" Cook

In 79, LSU jumped out to a quick 5 piont lead against Michigan State on the strength of Rick Mattick. Had he not gotten into VERY quick foul trouble, Bird vs.Magic may never had happened in the NC game. MSU had no answer to Big Rick.
