CINCINNATI — Shemar Stewart has reportedly been working out with the Texas A&M football team this summer, and could attempt to play at the school again if his Bengals contract isn't figured out.
Cover 3 podcast host Bud Elliott noted on the show that Stewart has been "fully involved" in the Aggies' workouts.

"It may not be legal yet, but everything in the NCAA ecosphere is subject to litigation," Elliott said about a return.

Well this is a first, a kid trying to play in college instead of the NFL
Wasn't he a first round pick?
Wasn't he a first round pick?

A&M really produces the dumbasses don’t they? That 2022 signing class will live in infamy

This seems like a situation the NFL, NFLPA, and college football would all want to avoid being litigated.
I’m not going to speculate what is and isn’t allowed anymore, but this feels like it gets worked out to avoid a bad situation.

It’s interesting in that I guess the suit would be against the NCAA in that once you enter the draft and declare yourself a pro is when you lose eligibility.
This is one I could see the NCAA winning, and doesn’t really make sense to me from Stewart’s side. I just don’t see an injunction being granted to let him play while the lawsuit is being worked through so it’d be kind of useless from his perspective.
And just looking at the situation as whole, Stewart seems like a malcontent, bad guy

yeah, you think you've seen lobbying in Congress before.
Wait til all those owners lobby up and they start hearing from every mayor, governor, and chamber where this an NBA, NFL, or MLB team.

this feels like a non-story being made into a story because a guy is working out with his old team to stay in game shape while he's holding out. I highly, highly doubt there is any actual intent for him to try to play college football next year. You'll notice there is no first hand source material, and it's just an on3 host of a radio show trying to create a story out of what some random "insider" guy told him.

Well this could be very interesting.

I'm sure someone willing to pay bigger NIL money or he using it as leverage for Bengals to give him what he wants. Latter more likely

That does not seem to be the case

Bud Elliot is an attorney and a co host of one of the biggest college football podcasts who’s been absolutely locked in on all these lawsuits. He’s far from just some “on3 host of a radio show”

A guy that has 4.5 career sacks in college clearly has all the leverage

His signing bonus in the draft was $10.4 million

So he actually has some background to understand this shite as opposed to some Big J from Syracuse is what you’re saying?
My point was the original post I replied to is ingenious at best

I seriously doubt it. He is a journalist and no different than any other claiming to have the inside scoop on a story. His 4 months at “Alabama Elder Law Clinic” does not make him some sort of SME on the topic

So am I, and I've practiced law far longer than the 4 months Bud Elliott did 15 years ago working in elder law
