Is this opening game the hardest game LSU has ever played?

on paper at least? Handful come to mind - some of the 90"s UF teams on the road, 2010's Bama on the road, 2006 Auburn, maybe 2011 Oregon neutral field.

I don't know if it's the hardest, but on paper seems like it's in the conversation. Add in that the program needs an opening week win, feels like the program is in a pressure cooker.

I think you'd get a better conversation if you asked if it was the hardest opening game LSU has ever played.

2011 Oregon, at least on paper, was massive

A week one regular season game is certainly not the hardest game LSU has ever played

Hardest game ever played? Not even close. I can name 10 games off the top of my head where we faced a team better than this version of Clemson. And yes, I know they have several projected first rounders. That type of forecasting very rarely manifests itself.

That was the first game that came to mind for me too, but that was a neutral field at least. A true away game like this probably beats it.

The other game that came to mind was at Virginia Tech in 2002.

Not even close. Preseason #1 ranked Nebraska came to Death Valley on September 11, 1976. The game finished in a tie - 6-6. LSU missed a 44 yd FG at the end that would have won it. Great battle, but definitely the toughest LSU opening game that I have seen. The hype for the game was unreal.

Depends how Clemson does the rest of the season. If they go undefeated and win the natty, then yeah you could definitely make the case that having to play them on the road in week one is the toughest game in program history

A 44 yard game winning field goal in 1976 must have felt like a mile.

If we're only talking about openers, maybe, but I'll have to see it to believe it. I think that is a massively over hyped team, and I don't say that to suggest that I'm super confident that LSU will win the game. How could I be after the last 5 openers? I'm also not saying Clemson isn't any good. They'll probably win the ACC, but that, as usual, isn't saying much.

They didn't impress me a year ago, but as far as returning players and new players and how that all comes together, and if they make a jump, I'll just have to see it, like I said. Since LSU beat them in '19, they haven't won anything of great importance.

2006 Auburn and 2010’s Bama games he mentioned weren’t openers

Maybe it was 21 year old purple and gold delusion but I had 0 doubt about that 2011 Oregon opener. I have plenty of doubts about this one

Just when you think you've seen the most retarded thing on TD, you then see something more retarded. Unreal the level of stupidity here.

Those 80's-90's openers vs. A&M were tough.

Dinardo's first game was @ No. 3 Texas A&M in a daytime kickoff where it was brutally hot. Two years before (93) LSU opened @ No. 5 A&M.

I know we all clown A&M here, but they were often a top 10 team during that time period when LSU would open (nearly) every season with them.

You need to re word your response to your topic because it does not match the title. You asked about hardest opening games then talk about 2010s Bama and 2006 Auburn. None of those games were opening games for LSU.
