Tell me about Denver as a place to relocate for a late-20's single person.

One of my chirren accepted a job out there. Obviously, the mountains are near and a huge draw. I understand the cost of living is high but I don't think apartments are that much more than NOLA. Is it fun? Is it safe?
Job is around Glendale, from what I understand. I know nothing about the area.
TIA.

The sunshine state? Denver. Gorgeous. Gorgeous.

I used to live in Denver and had a condo in Glendale. Great little enclave inside of Denver but no city taxes, multiple strip clubs, a rugby stadium, and the only Target in the state that sold liquor.
I absolutely loved living there, but that was a long time ago. I was never single there but can't imagine it being a bad time. My wife visited friends there recently and said I would hate it now. She might have just been trying to get me to quit trying to move back though.

Friday evening and Sunday evening traffic is terrible going to/from the mountains on i-70. I made that mistake one time and one time only.

I’m sure you’ll get a few of the usual suspects naysaying in your replies but I think most would agree that it’s a fricking awesome place to live at any age, especially in your late 20s.
You’ll enjoy the visits and they’ll have a blast. Win-win.

It is more costly to live there.
Denver proper is not a city that was overly enjoyable. I actually prefer Atlanta and Houston, and I’m not a fan of either of those.
The cities nearby are nicer (Westminster / Golden etc.), but still more expensive than Nola.
Boulder is a college town, so it has that going for it. Just be forewarned, it is VERY left-leaning, so your son may come home as your daughter.
All of that being said, a 20 something can enjoy life there, but they better make a decent paycheck.

Glendale area is pretty nice. The municipality is primarily just corporate entities. That area in particular is surrounded by the old money in Denver I would say. I used to work in the area when I was with PCL.
As a whole, I think Denver is a fine place to live. Been here since 2017. Not sure what the rent is but to buy a house, one day, you'll need to recalibrate what is a affordable house. Like you mentioned, the draw to living in Denver isn't so much Denver itself, it's all the awesome outdoor activities you can do in the surrounding areas. Real easy to stay active.

I lived there for many years in Golden and it's a great place especially if you like the outdoors. We were outside all weekend and drank craft beer in the evening.

I’ve been sitting through delayed/cancelled flights at the Denver airport for the last week due to thunderstorms… even though it hasn’t rained at the airport whatsoever.
That’s all I got.
They had gust of 80 mph last week at the airport.

I was in Centenial (South Denver) for 3 months
Pros: Beautiful scenery, more outdoorsy stuff, red rocks, not louisiana
Cons: traffic, people were weird (either hippy or techbro), food is meh, I was taken at the time but not sure of dating scene
Also I thought the mountains were closer to Denver. Some days you couldn’t even see the Rockies in the distant

If he is a left leaning loon he will fit right in.

I keep hearing a lot of negative shite about Denver from people that live there. It is a sanctuary city. I've heard the crime has gotten terrible. Typical for a democrat led city.

Daughter (no pics) is late 20’s and took a job up in Denver two years ago.
Lives in Castle Rock - the “affordable” places around Denver are not where you want to live. Paying about $3k to rent. You’ll need a place with a garage if you have a car. Summers are fun, but short. She doesn’t want to go hiking alone - a lot of freaks on the trails. She isn’t much of a skier - so winters aren’t as much fun as she thought they would be.
She’s looking to move to Florida, if that helps.
