Okay my daughter just hit someone with minor damage but to fix their vehicle it would I’m guessing cost more than $1500. The car she hit has previous damage all over and tbey seem to be fine with 1500 cash. If we give them the money am I free and clear or can it bite me in the arse?

I would have them sign a release for property damage, bodily injury, lost wages, etc. in the release. ANY and ALL potential claims must be settled for the 1.5k
ETA: if you really want to settle this without lawyers or your insurance knowing, then you should google various legal forms you can download, for a price. Have them sign it.
Were the cops called? If so did they show up before y’all left?

If you get an effective release you should be good.
Why aren’t you reporting it to your daughter’s insurer? Not smart.

A cash payment in exchange for a signed release is better than nothing I guess, but they can still backtrack and sue you anyway.
Filing a claim through your insurer is the most conservative route and affords you all the protections within your policy limits.

I paid some guy $200 because I just barely tapped him. Like not even a scratch or rub on the car. Nothing but I didn’t want any BS and the guy was white so I offered the quick settlement in hopes nothing came of it. Started off at $20 for a car wash and he finally took $200. Oh well.
Better than reporting it to insurance.
In your case you better get a release before you hand over the $.

Insurance agent is on site all information has been exchanged. My insurance agent says they acted like they would take a cash payment. I’m out of town so I’m not there.

Daughter is 16. I would say a-hole but I came to the OT so I understand the rules and consequences. Carry on.

Unfortunately, your rates will go up now. Even if you pay out of pocket, still an at fault accident on your record.
Save your money and let insurance pay since your rates will go up anyway. That’s why you pay them.

So... what if he wasn't white? What would you have done?
