I don’t think any of them are a waste. You have to ask yourself how often will you use it? Then decide if the cost is worth it to you?

We have a boat and we use it all summer. At least 100 hours minimum per summer.

I could never give up my boat. I fish over 150 days a year and then probably 30 days on top of that for cruising and anchoring at a beach.
I also keep a good amount of striped bass meat. Good stuff if you clean the red meat. We throw a big arse fish fry for 15-20 people about once a month.

Depends where you live. Boat in the desert is dumb, pool way up north is too.

For me it would be a boat. I just wouldn’t use it that much and it would be cheaper for me to go on a couple guided trips a year.
Use my pool weekly and whole home generator is great to have when the power is out.

We love both. But it helps to be able to do your own maintenance on either. Or it will get costly. And a shed for the boat or it will get destroyed by the sun within a year.

A pool. I can feed my family with a boat.

You can sell a boat. That hole in the ground will always be there mocking you.

I spent around $1k on my boat and I use the piss out of it. Way better deal than a pool.

All 3 my kids use the pool or hot tub year round I use my boat at least once a month sometimes more
Home generator is nice , since we were out of power for 6 days last big hurricane it beats leaving and going to a hotel .

Boat unless you live and breathe fishing. And I’m talking a 100K one because a pool is expensive to install nowadays.

I would say boat, unless you live next door to a body of water in which case the pool is obsolete
