It doesn't matter what the voters say, you will get the cheap apartments and you will like it!

Jefferson Parish is now buying and tearing down apartments in Fat City that were built in the 70's that are an eye soar now..

I wish they could do it with all those flea bag apartments that were built back then.

They will build apartments, it will cost x amount to live there... Until they have a hard time filling up the apartments. They drop the prices, brings in a less than desirable tenants which then causes the original folks to move out and well.. you know how it goes.

Bring back the projects. That at least isolates where criminal activity takes place.

frick that. I want LESS affordable housing in Mandeville. They need to buy up and bulldoze all those shite apartments off 22 from causeway approach to Francos

This is more of a parish wide issue than specifically Mandeville. While I agree that most of Mandeville can do without apartments there are areas and property owners who got screwed by the code change.

If you have to choose between the two would you rather a DSLD neighborhood packed with cookie cutter houses or a nice apartment complex with its on amenities?

this makes no sense.... you probably enjoy those developments you frequent often and/or live in one.

I'm not trying to change your opinion, but would like to open your eyes to the fact that the only developers you hear about are the ones trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Also, not all developers were created equally.

These serve as quasi apartments, sold on the cheap to individuals and companies with the intent to lease.

st Tammany needs to focus on infrastructure and improving the quality of commuting from point A to B for the people who pay taxes and already live here. It’s like a game to see how many neighborhoods and complexes they can fit in a small area. There is absolutely zero regard for traffic and ZERO forethought into zoning and re-zoning. They want the tax dollars but don’t want the responsibility of making it livable. That new development that DSLD bought out on 1085 with low cost “houses” is going to bring low income tenants to the area. The price is right for rental peoperties.

I probably should edit the "nice" out of that comment

Companies aren't buying these cookie cutter houses in LA with the way insurance is trending. That may be the case in other parts of the country but not here.

Say what you want now about Slidell, but the Slidell i knew in the 90s/early 2000s was homes, small apartments and community. The apartments built after Katrina next to Salmen High absolutley turned into a Section 8 fantasy land and ruined that school.

Mass apartments do nothing but make the construction company money and some owner that DGAF about the area.
