Is LSU-Wake the best college baseball game ever?

Been down an lsu baseball rabbit hole today. Watched highlights from all 8 championships. This game included so many great plays and also a matchup of the top two pitchers in college baseball. There will be a lot of big leaguers from this game. So glad the tigers pulled it out but man it could have gone the other way so easily. Also, staying on the 8 championships, what is your favorite team? Mine is the 91 team. My freshman year at LSU. Loved going to games and whenever Mouton caught one, it disappeared into the sky.

It was a great game. In what context are we using to define “best”.
Best pitched? Best defense? Most tension?

Probably the best one I’ve watched. But I’m too young to remember any of the games in the 90’s.

The 96 championship game was incredible. Not saying better but great.
The first one against coastal was pretty good too.
There are many to choose from depending on what you like. Offense, defense, pitching, comebacks, arse whippings. Could pick a best for many categories.

The June 18th Arkansas game ranks near the top for me in intensity. Wow!

It was a great defensive game and you just knew whoever could break through first would win it.
Maybe recency bias, but I much preferred the back and forth and lead changes late in the Arkansas game as opposed to just waiting for either team to score.

It was great, but for me the '96 game was the greatest. My second would be the extra innings win over A&M in the '89 regional. Beating Bama in '97 on Sunday, after losing 28-2, was pretty special too.

Well, if you put in those parameters, I think it is. Best pitched, name one better. Don’t remember every defensive play but the game does include maybe the best play in ever in the Morgan flip to home. Most tension, I’d say it was pretty fricking tense.

Not BEST game, but my most enjoyable game attended was the 3-grand slam, 7-homerfest 22-10 win over Illinois on 3/7/09 by the eventual National Champion Tigers. Fans even gave the Illinois rightfielder, Willie Argo, an ovation when he went back into RF after homering for the 3rd time in the top of that inning, which was weird to see to say the least.

Been watching LSU baseball my entire life (almost 40 these days). I can vividly remember 96 Morris and Cresse in 2000.
Imo, 23 Wake is the best CWS game I can remember. The difference between that one and the 96/00 walkoffs were the stakes. Morris and Cresse walked off to win it all. White walked it off to play for the Natty. But the game itself had it ALL. Fantastic pitching and defense (on both sides; shout out Tre Morgan), extras, and a walk off homer. Idk how you get better than that.
To be completely fair, I don’t recall many CWS games that LSU wasn’t involved in. There may be another really good one somewhere around there. The first game of the 23 Florida series is also highly underrated.

It’s definitely in the conversation.
But you could include the 2000 championship game
The 96 championship game
Game 1 against Texas 09
Hell, the second Arkansas game in Omaha was damn good. The lead changed 4 times
08 Irvine game 2
And that’s just LSU games

LSU Miami 1996 was one of the most dramatic I’ve ever seen. Back and forth, massive hit into the wind that wasn’t a HR, walk off. Won the CWS. For me, that game was one of the best if not the best.

Damn - this game gets lost all the time. DJ LeMahieu was unbelievable. They don’t win it just like Wake without DJs heroics or Game 1 vs UF in 23 without Pearson’s catch. After that game, you knew he (DJ) would be something special.

My absolute favorite kind of baseball game to watch is a 1-0/2-1 pitchers duel. I love watching two pitchers go at it, and it is even better when the stakes are high.
I don't care for west coast style baseball, but I love watching the struggle of having to do anything to be able to scratch across a run, the incredible defense that usually goes along with those types of games.
So to me, yeah it was probably the best game I've ever watched. Morris was the best moment I've ever watched.
That entire week was just so much fun. Beating Tennessee, beating Wake, and then the finale of Skenes vs Lowder. It was just awesome.
