75% Football
15% Men’s Basketball
5% Women’s Basketball
5% Other ( Baseball, Softball, Gym, Volleyball, Track, Field, Golf, Swimming, etc….)

$20.5 mill to be distributed.

That’s how LSU plans to distribute rev share. Sounds like most schools will be using this model with a few exceptions.
The distributions are based on the NCAA back payments to past athletes from the law suit.

This is from Wilson Alexander. The Advocate (pay wall)

Bonus: Costal Carolina has said they will be giving a much larger percentage to baseball. College baseball power house incoming.

How would you distribute the rev share?
How do you feel about baseball getting a very low portion of the funds?

It is based on who makes money. Football makes the most. Even losing seasons in basketball apparently make money.

Baseball is a priority at LSU. The kids will get their money one way or the other.

Coastal won’t be distributing $20.5M, will be between 5-10M at best.

My personal preference would be baseball to get 5% and take it from men’s basketball. Johnson likely has 15+ years left if he chooses and keeps up the dominance.

Likely Wbb could demand less after Coach Mulkey retires in a few years depending on who we hire and how the program fares after a couple years after the retirement.

I feel like in order to have a strong opinion on this you would have to know the inner workings of the athletic department as well as NIL.

If you raised women’s BB ticket prices and gymnastics ticket prices by $10/ticket, it’ll help offset some of the salaries. 10/ticket will essentially cover Mulkey’s salary.
Losing 8MM on WBB is terrible. They are the one team I would attack on cutting spending and trying to get closer to break even. Their model is not sustainable and fair to other sports like T&F.

I’d imagine the Carolina athletic department operates at a loss

Cut the basketball program, give football 90%, give 9% to Jay and save 1% for women’s “sports”.

Seems balanced on how much revenue is being generated. How much $ does baseball bring in?

10% of a Grape is worth less than 5% of a watermelon. I learned that from shark tank

I listened to Jay’s interview with Jacques Doucet today. Jay may be spinning the truth a bit, but he said that LSU won the Tommy White and Paul Skenes sweepstakes not bc of the money but because of his promise to play white at 3B no matter what and to develop Skenes into the pitcher he would be.

They for sure got NIL deals as well, but it seems like we didn’t overspend on those guys and the development they’d get here is what sold them.

And it seems like selling the development is the biggest piece to get the recruits Jay wants. We don’t have to spend what Tennessee and Arky and Texas spend to get the guys we want, because no one else has the track record we do of draft picks, signing bonuses, and MLB progression over the last 4 years like LSU does.

Florida had Langford and Cags make it up but this year LSU has 4 guys who were on the 23 team in the bigs, with a few others close to their call up. For kids with top level talent who want to make it to MLB, that’s more valuable than taking a extra100k at a different program.

This is the old number before the new Woman's basketball TV contract went into effect plus expenditure may have changed. Does anyone have the updated numbers to see what the current P/L is? I'm sure it is still losing but hopefully much less.
