Bring back the Vortec 5.3 L V8 and the 5.7 L V8, along with those older transmissions. Return to making trucks that are trouble free and last 250,000 miles or more.

The 5.3 is anemic. They have much better options. Toyota just needs to bring back the gen 2 Tundra and put the 5.7 in it. I hope we get new rams without the hybrid system for start/stop operation.

They will when they can’t give away the crappy trucks coming out these days.

GM will be bloody lucky to survive ten years without a bailout. Toyota, after hesitating, is all in on electric and hybridization. They are just trying to get the batteries right.

It's a shame, Toyota/Lexus especially. That was my brand for 20 years.

The 5.0 is the last motor being offered that I want. Unfortunately the F150 have tons of problems with everything else on the truck.

A tuned up 5.3 without AFM would be awesome.

The 5.3 in those early 2000 models are tanks. Ive a 2007 classic silverado 5.3 L with 250,000 miles. No oil leaks and still a daily driver. GM cant match that truck's longevity today.

If i could buy another new 2007 classic z71 today, I would be at the dealership tomorrow.

Toyota and GM both need to bring back their versions of the 5.7

I had a 95 Silverado with 150k on it that I abused and never had a single issue with that motor.

My 5.3 pulls my 30 foot camper with no issues and it has 175K miles on it. It has been a great truck

It’s not that simple. Toyota was forced into making the move to improve emissions, etc.

Parents 94 suburban had 265,000 on the original motor when we sold it. Their 2005 has 350,000 on original motor, been parked for a year but still runs. 2007 2500 classic has 320,000 on original motor.

Yep. GX or LX with a NA V8.

Who cares if it's not fast; I want an underpowered block that lasts forever.

I hate that every modern machine is built with designed obsolescence.

They don’t want trucks to last that long.
They want you to pay for repairs with the dealer with oem parts or they want you to buy new cars sooner.

This right here. Had an 03 and would buy another new one in a heartbeat. Extended cab with the suicide doors, Z71 trim, shite even throw a flowmaster on for the nostalgia.

Don't blame the manufacturers. Blame the frick head EPA figs for forcing unneeded emissions requirements. The tried and true engines can't meet the bull shite regs set by the pinko commie EPA figs.

I don't think Toyota or GM has invested much in hybrid V8 options like Mercedes has.
