LINK

He was with the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 70s and 80s when they were really good. The “we are family” guys. Good guy hate that he didn’t get to see his induction but at least he knew he was in HOF before he died

I remember watching in the World Series. He was a monster amongst me. When he connected with the ball it flew out the park. RIP.

I hate to hear this. Back in 1973 my cousin got me into the Pirate locker room and batting practice before a game with Montreal. I got to meet Parker. He didn’t know me from Jack Frost but treated me like someone he had known for 20 years. Took a picture with me that hangs in my office in Baton Rouge today and he pulled out one of his bats and gave it to me, which I still have. I’ve always respected what he did that day. RIP to a really good dude.

For all of his batting prowess, it's often forgotten the absolute cannon he had in RF. There is a video out there from an all star game where he absolutely lasered some dude at the plate.

The man loved him some cocaine. But he was a hell of a player.

I remember when the Cobra broke his jaw in 1978 during a collision with Mets catcher John Stearns. He continued to play first wearing this

Then the Pirates got with the Steelers equipment staff to create this

Loved me some Cobra, especially when he went to my Reds from 1984-87

RIP Cobra. Yet another vestige of my youth gone

everyone in the country did, all of the big three sports were filled with coke heads, playing high, drunk, whatever, he was a hell of an athlete but had a reputation as being a pretty big asshoe too

ETA: I remember him wearing a batting helmet in the outfield when the Phillies? had the brilliant idea to have "9 volt battery night"

Always been cardinals fan but enjoyed pirates run in 70’s as a kid, mostly because of the cobra. Good at the plate but monster in RF. Unless you had elite speed, might as well sit put at 3rd on sac fly. Very underrated player.

Yeah that’s not a fair criticism, they actually thought coke was good for u in the 70s. It was just a cool party drug. They didn’t know how addictive it really was at first.

It was in Coca Cola at first

Dave Parker was the fricking man. Plus zero fricks given, dude still smoked in the dugout.
