Despite the upside, the message from inside the building is this: New Orleans wants a grown man in the locker room who can bang with Jokic, help in crunch time and teach the young fellas how to be pros. Word is they’re on the hunt for a vet center; someone who’s been there, done that.

So, who are the names floating?

Don’t be shocked if Brook Lopez comes up in internal conversations. He’s a floor spacer, shot blocker, champion and he checks boxes. Same for Al Horford, who may be looking for a final run and could fit culture-wise in NOLA. Kevon Looney is another name execs around the league have loosely tied to the Pelicans as a “glue guy” type who doesn’t need touches but gets boards and makes winning plays.

If you’re thinking younger? Clint Capela or Myles Turner might be dream fits if the financial math works.

I would gladly give Lopez every loose dollar I had to get him, just have to imagine he won’t choose the Pels.

Nic Claxton
Walker Kessler
Wendell Carter
Isaiah Stewart

FA:
Brooke Lopez
Clint Capela
Al Horford
Moritz Wagner
Luke Kornet

I’m done with the trades for now. Give me either Lopez or Horford for the full MLE.

Man, just looking at the list, and if we are willing to offer a starting role and $10+ million, there aren’t a lot of better options.

Lakers as an example can’t offer more than $5.7, at least as things stand today. Who knows, I would gladly over pay to try and fill this last piece.

Turner is working on deal with Pacers
Naz just signed a 5/125

So you prob want Allen or Kessler, just like last year

I can see Looney being the play with his ties to the head coach. But “dream fit” would be Lopez, if we’re looking at Free Agents.

Shy of 14 mil for Timelord is a good value, but I think it would be hard to find a trade of equal value to bring him to New Orleans.

Trigga Trey $25, Poole Party $32, DJM $31, Z $40 is where your bread is buttered.

Herb is the only value contract and DJM contract feels inflated in this moment which is probably why their name keeps being mentioned in trades by podcasters.

Wait ... Didn't we just acquire a new TPE? It wouldn't have to be a trade of equal value, would it?

Yeah, from Jonas last year. It expires July 7th. We can do TPE + Hawkins (125% rule). Or any other play around 2.3 million. Which should add up to Robert Williams contract.

CJ TPE is only 2.5 and Olynyk is 3.5. JV is 9.9.

What is the likelihood the Knicks would part ways with Robinson? Since they have KAT, do they really want/need another true big?

Walker Kessler would be my dream pick but not paying 2 first round picks for him like baby Ainge is asking. I’d gladly give them one 1st and Jordan Hawkins though. As far as free agency, I like Luke Kornet a lot but he’s going to get $12-15 mil a year most likely. If We could get Larry back at a low cost contract I would be happy with that.

No, but would need to stay under tax.
