Makes you wonder why it ramped up so much in late 2024? Nvm..looks like it was the cost of living increase.

Damn, look at that spike right after Trump won in November of 2024 and the Biden Admin was still in power. There was a mad rush to steal what they could before the new administration came in.

So what is this graph trying to tell us? What does the Y-Axis represent?
I'm going to assume it's the average quarterly check amount. If the number of checks issued decreased because of fraud, I don't understand how the average would be altered. I'm guessing the fraud found would somehow decrease the payout per check, not the number of checks.
Can someone 'splain what the graph means?

So if you see 1600 on the Y-Axis it means, 1,600,000,000 or 1.6 billion.
I know, it doesn't seem like enough.
ETA: on second look the Y-Axis looks like it's in hundreds of millions of dollars. Not millions.

It's confusing because Grok tells me that the Social Security Administration outplayed $1.48 trillion in benefits last year. If you simply divide that by 12 that is 123.33 billion per month. The chart is only showing ~1.5 billion per month.
