Expansion team fee will hit $2 billion but another thing to note is that the NHL saw six different groups give a presentation of expanding to their city.
The ones we know of are the two Atlanta groups and one in Houston. The other three are unknown but possibly some mix of, Kansas City, Phoenix, Quebec, Portland, Milwaukee, Cincinnati,

A Portland team will likely be on hold until the blazers are finally sold as the hypothetical Portland team would play in the Moda center or in some shared replacement arena for the Moda center now that it would be coming up on 35-40 years old at that point.
Also, the ownership group would need to figure out how to work with the Portland Winterhawks of the AHL (that are very well attended for minor league hockey) and its legacy in the city. But it’s obvious that Portland has a pretty solid sports market (with no MLB or NFL competition) and an easily leveraged natural rivalry with Seattle (maybe Vancouver)

Still amazes me Portland has a professional team. Small market and antifa

Nah, keep Quebec open for when the Atlanta team moves.

You give Quebec a team, Canadians are going to cry for another team.

Mate hopefully well land an MLB team in our fair city of Portland

These kind of surprise me. I figured Portland was all in for baseball. Cincy needs a new arena.

How many expansion teams is the NHL looking to add? They already have 32 teams in the league

These aren't official just my guesses of who might be trying to grab a team. Right now all we know for sure is Atlanta and Houston are trying

Milwaukee makes the most sense of the three. Close proximity to Chicago, an instant rival to them and St. Louis, and the state loves Badger hockey.

Expansion has to be unanimous and Chicago's owner (and probably Detroit's) would never allow it.

Chicago’s not letting them eat into their fan base. No chance.
Quebec and Houston are the only okay choices. Don’t like Atlanta based off of history but it’s probably happening so whatever
