There was a time, not very long ago, that younger men would respect elderly women, and slow down to help her accomplish whatever the task is.
Maybe you should check yourself and how “important” your activity is.
Respecting the elderly, caring for widows, and being patient with others are characteristics that we should be aspiring for.

My god, you could overrun France twice in the time it took them to find their pen, their readers, a checkbook and squabble about double coupons on Tuesdays and the canned Thrifty Maid fancy peas were 3/$1.00 and the Green Stamp dispenser shorted them and finally do double-entry accounting on the tiny desk by the checkout area then begin the arduous process of securing their checkbook, stamps, change, pen, reading glasses back into the papyrus and linen vessel they used as a purse.
