4 adults, 4 kids 2 are below 2. We’re looking for somewhere warm and fun, I recall going to NO where parts seem kid friendly but never been post covid. Will the kids get their shoes stolen?

Bayou Classic is that weekend and does bring in a bit of a rough crowd.

might not get their shoes stolen but the odds of catching a stray are still pretty high

Probably worst time to be in NOLA. Look up Bayou Classic Weekend. The hotels are expensive and it's hard to get around town because people just clog up the streets driving back and forth.

You have kids, so Bourbon being packed isn't a big deal for you, but its still a PITA to deal with trying to get anywhere else.

It's not a good family destination for anything these days.

I’d rather eat Thanksgiving meal in Afghanistan than New Orleans.

Literally any other place in the world than New Orleans!

If you truly love your family, there is no way in hell you should be going down there that weekend.

Most BBQ’s that weekend are being cooked in hotel bathtubs, true story

New Orleans from Thanksgiving to New years is a pretty great place to visit and surprisingly festive for Christmas.

It’s a great time of year for the zoo. I think most hotels have their Christmas decorations up weekend after thanksgiving. Christmas in the oaks and carousel gardens/storyland is generally great that time of year for kids.

it'd probably be safer to take them to Iran.

Thanksgiving is a great time weather wise, but as others mentioned you’d have to avoid the quarter. Bayou classic is always a mess.

Uptown would be fine and you’d have access to zoo, Audubon park, City park, children’s museum, streetcar, etc.

Also - if you’ve never been I always recommend the WW2 museum. Even with kids it’s worth the trip.

Just to be honest, if you stay away from the FQ you're fine.

Stay uptown, eat out uptown. You'll have a great time
