A part of a US national suicide prevention hotline that caters for LGBTQ young people says it will soon close, after the Trump administration cut its funding. The administration has accused the service of "radical gender ideology". It says it will still fund the wider 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline - of which the LGBTQ youth option is one part - and that all callers will receive "compassion and help". The Trevor Project, an organisation that helped to run the LGBTQ option, said the decision would have a harmful impact on vulnerable young people. ADVERTISEMENT "Suicide prevention is about people, not politics," said Jaymes Black, the organisation's CEO. He said his service had been told to close within 30 days.

By the way, callers could still request counselors, trained, or with experience in cultural background, diversity, or other specialty areas or even request someone experienced or trained in a certain mental illnesses. But not for gender related issues.

They're butthurt for a different reason than usual.
In this case, the Alphabet People callers won't be routed to special counselors who will lean into the callers' delusions, but rather will get the usual hotline operators who are there to help ALL callers.

Why don’t they have a suicide hotline for people that go to work everyday and pay the taxes for these people that need a suicide hotline

People can request a counselor with experience or training in certain mental illness, you can request a specific gender of the counselor, you can request other specialties. Just not LGBTQ, one of the groups that has the highest risk of suicide.

Why should tax dollars be used for a suicide hotline? Let churches or private donors do that. I don't care if you kill yourself.

There have been times when I might have called one of those

I’m thinking about starting a suicide hotline for people who wanna off themselves every time they read the letters LGBTQ.

Part of the problem is they are unhappy because of the sin. Its impossible to treat them if you tell them what is making them unhappy is perfectly normal and acceptable. Its not

And people wonder why LGBTQ people (mentally ill or not) say they are marginalized.

I can assure you they do not care about the “sin”
Not everyone abides by what you call holy or sinful. There are many of us who don’t spend 3 hours a week pretending to love an imaginary being who “loves” us all so much that he’s gonna send us to hell if we don’t kiss his arse every day.

your own OP counters your false bravado complaint of people will suffer.
They aren't there to help. They are there to obey demoralization marxism and create useless freaks.
quote:As Vox and or someone else eluded to they WANT THEIR VERY OWN SPECIAL HOTLINE so they can control and encourage people to continue on doing what some school clinic said.

“Marginalized”?
How so? Because one specific special interest group wants special treatment separate from others calling a suicide hotline?
What other special interest groups do you want to create a dedicated suicide hotline for?

Can they not use the same hotline everyone else is expected to use? There can’t be a separate line for every different group.

Why do they get a special 1800-dont-try-suicide number?

crazy4covid is going to lose his shite. He claimed to donate like 20k a year to the Trevor Project

In that case, they need a male specific hotline if they don’t have one since we make up 50% of the population and around 80% of suicides.

If this prevents suicides it’s a dumb idea and needless just because it says LGBT. I don’t know if it does or not, if it doesn’t then cut it and the other ones.
