Should have let him swing with 2 strikes

Maybe the coach was irritated Jake didn't get it done the first two attempts.

Boils down to confidence that he'll get it down. All there is to it.

It was egregious to have him bunt at all. Keeping it on with two strikes is downright malpractice.

This isn’t high school. Jay doesn’t do things because he is aggravated.

I was ok with the decision, trying to bunt one off the plate wasn't a great move though

They have very little confidence in him hitting a lefty, but didnt want to take him out the game if it was just this 1 lefty he would see. Wanted to bunt to ensure hopefully another run in, dude has just gotta get the bunt down. Next time that situation comes up they might PH for him with Josh Pearson.

I cringed when I saw this. Then your cleanup is in the wrong spot! Also, bunting with 2 strikes.

Yep. I had little faith after his first 2 half hearted attempts. He wasnt seeing it, and his effort was half arse

The plan was to move the runners to 2nd and 3rd with one out and let Bear take one for a ride. Worst case is a sac fly.

he didnt want to go to Pearson to pinch hit because it was very early and they change pitchers a lot. as soon as you put Pearson in ,they end up going back to a righty 2 innings later, they're known for this. we need brown in against that potential righty.

he busted because he probably doesn't remember the last time hes evem looked decent swinging against a lefty.

kept it on with two strikes because there's a better chance that he strikes out or hits into a dp ,than him not getting the bunt down .

Why does Johnson's offensive philosophy not include stealing bases, or putting men in motion??

I absolutely hate essentially sacrificing an out to advance runners, its even worse once there was 2 strikes. The analytics don't back it up. I hate it.

But Jay likes to do it so it is what it is

Right, you are not forcing an agenda in Omaha.

His first two attempts were one of the worst sacrifice bunt attempts I have ever seen. Got in position way too late and didn’t even fully square up
