I use google flights to get an idea of where the deals are. Then book direct with airlines. I’m loyal to Marriott with high status so they are my default.

I don’t use the typical travel sites anymore. Don’t trust them if something goes wrong. I do use Am Ex and Costco which seem to beat Expedia, Priceline, etc. anyway.

I do my research on Trip Advisor.
If I use a booking site it is usually Expedia.

I hardly ever use booking sites for hotels. I deal with the hotels directly.

I do use them for flights occasionally, especially when more than one airline is involved.

Review first. TripAdvisor for hotels and Google Flights. Then book direct or Amex site if FHR.

Google Flights and then book direct.

Marriott guy here with Hilton and Hyatt as backups.

Book direct with rental car companies as well.

Use google to compare flights and hotels and book directly 98.76% of the time.

Every once in a while I will book a hotel theough my credit card for the points if the price is lower. And if prices are stupid high in an area, I will book the hot rate through Hotwire. Used it way back in the day when I had no monies and trust the site and service so I’ll use it time to time to score a deal. But those are rare.

The only time I am not booking direct is when I am using a credit card portal.

This is what I do now. Until 7 or 8 years ago I would occasionally use hotwire, travelocity, etc. for last minute hotels, rental cars, etc, and it was generally fine.

Nowadays, you can often find similar deals booking direct and/or using the credit card portals, and I also take advantage of credit card status partnerships, especially for hotels and rental cars.

This.

If I know the area well, I can almost always dig around and figure out what the surprise hotels are on Hotwire. I've gotten some great deals that way, but only where I know the area well and travel there often.

Try to do direct, unless for rental cars then it's costco or expedia.
