Is there a world where LSU goes into Clemson and beats the brakes off of them?

In this world, Clemson is extremely overrated, LSU is actually prepared and is on a war path to let everyone know they’re back.

This game is starting to feel like all those years we couldn’t get past the Saban bama hump then finally broke through. It’s a must win for the confidence. It’s the opener it’s not just Clemson.

All that being said I really think if they walk into Clemson and man handle them, I don’t see them losing to any teams on the regular season schedule. Now SEC CG vs UGA/Texas is a different story.

Honestly, LSU has lost so many consecutive season openers that we will be mentally challenged and tight playing the game. If we actually get off to a good start, I could see that jump starting into a big game.

Yes. We have a whole roster of motivated players who will play with a chip on their shoulder.

Would be great if Clemson is this year's VaTech. Would love to see that.

Can you explain why it feels like this to you?

Meh. That southern cal team sucked that we lost to last season so until it actually happens, I don’t trust this team in an opener under BK. I’ll be at the game though.

If the defense is as good as it looks like it can be ( a lot of new players with a lot of new talent), and the offense is balanced and runs the ball effectively with Durham, Jackson, and Berry, then LSU will win by at least 17 points.

The only reason I think Clemson "might" be overrated is looking back at last season they lost 3 games to all of their SEC opponents:
34-3 to UGA
17-14 to USCe @ Clemson
38-24 to Texas

Their best win last season was a 3 point win over SMU @ Clemson.

I'm going into this game with no expectations and wouldn't be surprised with any outcome.

In 2022 we could not beat an average F$U team nor could we beat a poor SoCal team in 2024. No reason to believe we can beat a good Clemson team at Clemson much less blow them out. I have to see us play well right out of the shoot and actually win a season opener before I can believe we will win one. I see us losing at Clemson maybe 24-27.

That being said, I think we can go on to do well and even finish 10-2 and make the CFPlayoff as a lower seed, maybe travel to Oregon and losing game #1.

You people act like LSU was more talented than fla.st especially in that 1st game.Yall can blame BK all you want but the OL/DLs had 0 depth for3 years and this is football not Basketball where 3 decent players make you competitive.Ed left this roster in a shambles and if you don’t see that you just hate BKs hire.It took the GREAT Nick 4 years to compete for it all and in his 5th yr he lost 4 games ,it ain’t as easy as you guys think

Clemson extremely overrated, and if we beat them we won’t lose to anyone else.

Hmmm, this is an inconsistent point of view. Can’t have it both ways. Either they are really good or not.

Based on recent trends...
Close game - LSU has plenty of chances - loses it at the end.

That game, as has been the case in pretty much every opening game over the last 3 seasons, came down to LSU consistently failing to execute a capitalized on opportunities. LSU was PLENTY talented enough to win every one of those games.

In 2022 LSU took the opening possession and marched right down the field. Boutte can't hang on to a would be TD in the endzone. The, on 2nd and goal from the 4 the center snaps the ball 16 yards past the QB. It doesn't take immense talent to get the snap to the QB. Just execution. LSU is forced to settle for a FG. The 1st quarter ends 3-0.

FSU scores a TD in the second quarter not because the LSU DB is physically unable to guard the WR. It was because the DB looking in the backfield when FSU fakes a reverse, letting the WR run right by him for a TD. Again, execution. Not lack of talent.

LSU comes back and gets inside the FSU 10 again. Daniels throws a slant/post that if Boutte is looking, or at least willing to catch the ball would have led him right into the endzone. Instead, he doesn't even attempt to catch the ball. The subsequent 27 yard FG gets blocked because no one decides to black Jared Verse. Again, execution...not talent.

Nabers, who I don't think anyone would say isn't talented, drops two punts. Regardless, despite ALL of that, "untalented" LSU goes 99 yards in roughly a minute to score what looked like the game tying TD...except the ST, which was a problem all season, again, doesn't block a rusher.

LSU left points on the board in 2023 because they failed to execute. The USC game in 2024 is OVER if Nuss, who had a pretty good game leading up to the final drive, doesn't through his worst pass of the night.

LSU has been PLENTY talented enough to win every opening game under Kelly. They have just consistently failed to execute in sports that could have changed the game. To act like LSU has been running up against opponents with a roster the talent level of a ULM or similar is just a baseless excuse.

There’s been no evidence from Brian Kelly to indicate this team will be prepared to win any opening game.

Yes bc we’ve determined I am the jinx. Lost every opening game I’ve attended. I’ll be watching the Clemson game from home. You’re all welcome.

The roster had holes & weaknesses in it all those seasons from the position coach O left it in. This 2025 roster is the most complete & talented roster BK has had here & possibly at any of his stops.
