Trump says US was read in on Israel’s attack on Iran

I wish POTUS would not say this part out loud, leave ambiguity/plausible deniability to keep us on the sidelines. This is pretty brazen even for Trump

US President Donald Trump says he and his aides were read in on Israel’s plans to attack Iran.
Asked whether Israel gave the US a heads-up on its attack, Trump tells The Wall Street Journal, “Heads-up? It wasn’t a heads-up. It was, we know what’s going on.”
Trump says he spoke with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday and will hold another call with him on Friday.
He calls Israel’s attack on Iran “a very successful attack, to put it mildly.”
“I told the other side, I said, you have 60 days to make the deal. On the 61st day, they attacked. Today is 61 actually, and it was a very successful attack,” Trump tells WSJ.
“They should have made a deal and they still can make a deal while they have something left — they still can,” he adds.

When we are telling everyone to bug out of the ME in the days before the attack, it is kind of understood we know or highly suspect it is going to happen.

100%. But saying "we knew" publicly removes an off ramp of everyone knowing but pretending otherwise

I haven’t been paying attention.. but if we gave them 60 days to make a deal and at 61 they eliminate their whole program and leadership.. damn.
That’s keeping your word, whoever pulled the trigger or not.

I think is part of the reason the intel community hates him. He's too open and blunt about what we do.

Well, there were reports yesterday that US Embassies were being evacuated, so the media knew something was about to happen. He had to deliver some sort of explanation.

My granny knew too and she's been dead 20+ years.

Obvious things are... obvious.

So Marco Rubio puts out the statement that the USA was not involved, then almost immediately Trump comes out and pretty much confirms that the scheduled negotiations was a deceptive tactic to have Iranian officials feel they had time and to entice them to meet up, only to be killed.
That is a great precedent for further international diplomacy.

We started moving people out of the region days prior to the attack. Pretty obvious we knew.

Exactly. Killing them on day 61 makes it look like it was all just a setup in the first place.

All Im saying is that this is counterintuitive to keeping us on the sidelines

Israel telling us what they want to do doesn’t mean we conspired with them or were apart of it?
We have intelligence on many things happening in the world, don’t see how that places any blame on us

I see nothing wrong with Trump telling the world that we knew what one of our closest allies was going to do. He said they had 60 days.
I don't feel Trump is in the wrong at all. Now, Israel explaining how they baited the leaders to a meeting, then taking them out? That needs to be kept quiet.
Yes, we were aware. Trump tried to stop it before it happened, but wasn't successful (which there was no way he would have been with Israel's desire to wipe Iran out).
Rubio's immediate tweet was crucial.
Trump still hasn't started a war with US engagement.

I don’t see this. If they could have easily made a deal on day 17, day 35, day 59, then how was it a deceptive tactic?
If they made one then we refused and bombed them then that would have been a deceptive tactic
Edit: also I’d say doing it on the 61st day after a 60 day deadline is the opposite of deception. If they bank says you have 30 days to make a loan payment then show up to repo your car on day 31 that seems pretty damn straight forward
Deception would be you have the money and are heading in to pay, then they tell you that you have 30 days so you wait. Then your car is repo’d on day 7

That plausible deniability was pretty questionable regardless and then Israel came out and said we knew.
Might as well take credit at that point.

Dude, we are the strongest military in the world 3 times over. We can tell Iran we came up with the plan, Iran won't do shite, and if they do decide to get ballsy, we can do much worse than what Israel did. MUCH WORSE.
