Microsoft discontinuing Remote Desktop app and removing autofill from Authenticator

just
why the frick can't these tech companies leave useful shite alone that just quietly do their jobs?
i've had to find a replacement at work for remote desktop b/c the new well-named "Windows App"
designed to replace it doesn't have the RDC protocol worked out yet.
did i mention
so i found (no thanks to microsoft) a different tool "Remote Desktop Connection Manager" that seems to do what we need (manage multiple user login accounts & multiple server addresses) but nowhere did they offer this as a solution..all roads lead to "use Windows App".
oh and i get to retrain everyone on how to use the new tool because its just confusing enough that its going to raise all kinds of questions.
so, fresh on the heels of that, i get a notification that the Authenticator app (which I am required to use for work and also adopted for multiple personal 2FA logins because this seemed LIKE A GREAT frickING APP TO CONSOLIDATE EVERYTHING) will no longer support autofill.

let's not consolidate everything into a single app that does it all; no no. let's remove functionality that works great esp. when migrating phones and you need all your app logins to come back easily..no no lets take that out and tell everyone TOUGH shite, you will need to install stupid EDGE on your device(s) and use the password autofill built into the browser.
frick you microsoft (and google among others) for meddling with these little useful tools and making life miserable again.

I would just like to note for the record that I can't. fricking. stand when companies name things in a way that makes it impossible to use the name as a search term. X, Windows App, or anything equally and uselessly generic is the bane of the internet being a useful repository for information, and particularly troubleshooting information.

"Tmobile Life" comes to mind.
thanks for fricking up my separate 'sync up' app. ditched the plan due to that and the fact they made me get a new odb2 device.

Come on CAD. You should have known about RDCMan a long time ago! I just wish it supported Linux clients to, so I didn't have to use two apps

They're doing everything they can to get everyone back to Password123! . It feels like this cancer started with the Apple Store; companies updating apps every two weeks for no apparent reason just to push the algorithm to keep them highly ranked.

If we're yelling at clouds, let me just get my soapbox for tech companies randomly combining apps for no reason.
Google Business Profile didn't need to merge with Maps
Google Podcasts didn't need to merge with Youtube Music
And I just got a notification from Paypal that they're combining the personal and business Paypal into one app...why? Why on god's green Earth is that a goo idea for the consumer? I know some project manager is going to get a bonus because he's going to manage more people, but it makes no sense to combine them. I'm just not going to use the personal part of Paypal on my phone now and I'll use Venmo instead.

Microsoft has been on a tear with this stuff since Windows 10, which they hailed as the final version of Windows if anyone remembers . Their M365 (or is it O365?) suite constantly changes names of services and portals, has duplicate areas for security and settings. Azure is constantly changing names and services.
They always have some big plan to "revamp" a suite of services at any given time like a revolving door. Microsoft has just been a mess for the past 5-10 years

I quit using it years ago because the security was garbage.
Chrome (yeah, I know) handles that and the other stuff you are bitching about.

While we are kicking Mr Softy in the balls, can we also kick Google for updating the Google Sync for Outlook app which broke outlooks and made it crash on starting up?
Thankfully, for some odd reason it doesn't 100% break for everyone but it does change the formats and deletes saved folders for contacts for everyone. Thanks Google. Nice way to start the week.

Heh. Just ran into this a couple a days ago. WTF is Azure and what does it do?

The worst part of Microsoft's revolving door of constantly changing product names is that they don't update those names in their documentation.
Also frustrated with New Outlook becoming Outlook and regular Outlook changing to Outlook Classic. And don't get me started on Teams. Hope that whole team gets the hot fois.

The blue remote desktop app that doesn't let you store multiple IP addresses and login profiles?

I don't have that problem yet, if I right click on the icon there or where I pin it to my taskbar, it gives me the option to pick the last few places I logged in. On one network, it is on a Windows 10 machine, but on the other, it is Windows 11 machine. I'm probably misunderstanding what you are describing, though.

I have about 8 servers I need to regularly log into. I have 3 separate accounts (/user, live and live2) each with their own passwords.
I need to be able to one click any from the list and multiple at the same time and I want to name both servers with friendly names and the profiles.
