Looking for good hotels in Asheville, NC.
Taking the wife up to Asheville in July for a concert and to see friends.
Thanks.

Great city/area to visit. We were there 2 weeks ago and we rented an Airbnb right in the middle of Hayward St and I could literally walk to 10 or 12 restaurants amd/or bars with live music in less than 5 minutes.
You should be able to rent a nice apt with a kitchen for less than a hotel. See below for a example of a nice place downtown for less than $200 a night.
AirBnb - Ashville

I second the Grove Park Inn
I’ve stayed at a lot of places and that’s towards the top of my list

Wife and I have decided when it is only the two of us traveling, hotel it is. We dont need a ton of space and dont want to fiddle with the sheets and pre-cleaning before a check out. But thank you.

We stayed at the Grove Park Inn and while it’s an amazing property, the rooms are pretty average and dated for what you are paying.
Definitely not where your money is going so just depends on your priorities
I’d probably stay downtown and go to the Grove Park Inn for drinks and dinner and walk around

Stayed at the Cambria Hotel Downtown Asheville a few years ago and it was nice. There's a nice roof top bar/restaurant with great views of the city/mountains, fire pits, and string lights. We didn't use the car until we drove to the Biltmore.

Another vote for the Grove Park Inn. The main hotel is old and has some cool history, and the views are incredible! Would go back in a heartbeat.
ETA: It has a nice golf course and fabulous spa. You go play a round and send your wife for some pampering. Win-win!

The Grove Park is awesome but not downtown if you want to be in the mix. I recently went to a concert at The Yards (downtown outdoor venue) and stayed at The Moxy which connects to Aloft. That was a great location and we could walk anywhere. It also has an awesome rooftop bar/restaurant and the rooftop pool is nice too. Our room was smaller than expected though so do some research before picking the room.

Instead of Airbnb, we've used a local property company the last two times we were in Asheville. Once, our B&B was next to the Asheville Tourists stadium, and the next time it was near downtown. Much cheaper than the upscale hotels you might stay in:

The Bohemian just reopened recently. They renovated it after they were flooded out in Helene.
If not Grove Park, it's worth giving the Bohemian a try.
The Kimpton is also really nice if you want to stay downtown. If your concert is at the Orange Peel or Rabbit Rabbit (I forget the new name), this one would be within walking distance.

We've stayed at Hilton Garden Inn (Asheville Downtown) a couple times - Less than 15 minute walk to most of the bars/restaurants and 20 minute walk to South Slope breweries. Parking is reasonable and there are plenty of spots.

We stayed at the Kimpton Arras for a week a couple years ago. It’s dead center of downtown, so easy walk to most places. Room and service were fine. Parked with their valet, and the car was always ready when we asked for it. We booked way in advance and got a really good price compared to what it was going for closer to the dates.
One World Brewing had a small basement bar just across the street. Live music nightly. We ended the evening there a few times. Easy to stumble home from there.
There was an AC Hotel across the street that looked pretty decent, with a rooftop restaurant and bar.

We stayed at the Renaissance Asheville a few years ago for a wedding and it was fine. Wedding party stayed at the Kimpton Arras and it's where most of us hung out at night. Would have likely stayed there if I wasn't such a Marriott fanboy.

Stayed here many many times. Good location to walk downtonw/ south slope from, and easy ingress/egress to the interstate.

The AC caddy corner from the Kimpton is nice, also.
