Imagine spending NIL money on college baseball

At best the 5th most popular college sport, that really draws little to no national attention, and still spending NIL money on players
And then not even getting out of your own regional, getting swept by a commuter school that probably doesn't have anyone on their roster getting NIL bucks
Great job Longhorns. A win for the anti-NIL crowd
Great return on investment.

Do they even get full scholarships yet?

College baseball is by far the sport with the most parity. This is not a bad thing.

It’s kinda pathetic how southern cal abandoned baseball. 12 nattys and you only have 2 tournament appearances since 2005

If you haven't figured it out yet, NIL has nothing to do with return on investment from a financial standpoint.
College baseball is the third most popular sport in the south and in some places the second most popular.
Are you implying the southeast should reprioritize their interest based on bunch of professional sports fans in California, the midwest and the northeast?

Seems like theyve abandoned all sports which is pretty emblematic of who attends the university. International students, high achievement academics, and trust fund kids are not enough to sustain the support.
They're too small and exclusive to totally compete with 40k+ student enrollment at a lot of their athletic peer institutions.

I mean college now is just low level pro sports

I'll tell you for a fact there are some dudes on UTSA's roster receiving some NIL monies. Nowhere near UT Austin's level, but they're receiving something.
That said, happy to see the Road Runners make their first ever Super Regional. Will be rooting for them to beat UCLA this coming weekend.

I'm willing to bet Oregon spent more and got much less in return. I don't disagree with what your saying, but no different them spending money on Women's Basketball or Softball no way to ever recoup that no matter the result.

Well that’s not true it’s definitely possible to not be in the red for baseball. Albeit hard to do but a few programs have proven they can do it. Now Oregon’s travel budget is so expensive now in the big ten may be impossible for them.

I think I read somewhere that A&M paid out more NIL monies than anyone this year regarding baseball. What a joke. Also well documented on their 35M dollar football class in 2022. I think three players from that class stayed.

That maybe true nationally but not the case at schools that actually spend NIL on baseball.

Great return on investmen
They had some injuries to key players but nice 20/20 hindsight

That’s not how it works. The school itself does not spend NIL, its outside groups and presumably the people donating to sports like baseball, WBB, softball etc want the team to win. And please note a disappointing ending 1 particular season does not mean a bad ROI. The example of Texas, they won the regular season SEC and were a national seed in the coaches first year. No doubt disappointing to lose the regional regardless the opponent but you judge a program and coach over time not one disappointing ending

A boring meaningless sport that no one in this state cares about

Why would college baseball gain popularity? I can watch nearly any softball or women's basketball game on standard programming, but when I want to watch a marquee postseason baseball matchups, I have to watch it on espn+/-^10. They'll put dog jumping championships on espn before they put on an SEC match up. They know we will pay, and it's a majority affluent white young men playing it, so even more so espn wouldn't push it without making you go through hoops to watch it.
There's next to no mainstream reporting on it, but it's front page news when a women's basketball player makes 3 layups in a row. Any dumbass can see why it hasn't gained in popularity and why it never will. Sports popularity lives and dies by TV programming and media coverage, and the hype that comes with it. It's a pain in the arse to even get accurate game times, stats and basic information, and that's by design. Hell if it weren't for bigdgator I'd have given up on trying to find out where and when half the sec games were being played.
It's astonishing, really, that it has the popularity that it does.

Yet. Whenever this judge decides to accept the deal. And still with a percentage of football revenue built in to take care of the other non revenue sports. And those non revenue sports will be given more scholarships than they'll use. The school, i.e. football, will foot those bills. The outside will be what gets you the kids you really want and then be able to keep them.

Might happen to LSU.
HIGHLY doubtful.
UTSA actually has a good baseball team. 47-13 overall, 23-4 in their conference games.
UALR is several games under 0.500 for the season, including something like 8-16 in their conference play. Little Rock is not a good team, and last night was likely a fluke with LSU walking 11 batters and leaving 10 or 11 batters on base on offense. Don't see LSU losing tonight.
