We shouldn’t be relying on illegal labor.

Good.

Kicking the employees out is like scooping water out of a boat with a hole in the bottom.

Force contractors to use Americans or legal immigrants and there's no reason to sneak in.

I cannot wait until progressives, who have been harping about paying people living wages, show up in this thread crying about shutting down slave wage practices.

Step 1 is nearing completion
Step 2 is slashing welfare and getting them to take the open construction jobs.
Let's fricking go.

They'll be pretty busy.

I assume the farming/ agriculture/ food lobby must have steered the Feds away from them

Are there really people on TD that espouse the "who will mow our lawns?" argument?

I must have missed it because what I saw was a bunch of people saying the guy in the OP should be fined or imprisoned for hiring illegals (or hiring subs that hire illegals).

Should have been done decades ago.

I voted for all of this, but the vast majority of the population really doesn’t understand that it’s no longer about paying lower wages for unskilled workers…. That was the case 15-20 years ago.

Now it’s there’s nobody else to do the job. Our labor force is drunk, high, on welfare and no longer capable of performing the work. Hence going after contractors for employing illegals will have some serious economic ramifications.

Down vote away/ but I manage (or maybe I don’t, Mr. Fed) and 150 subs- most of which are illegal and if they don’t work most of you have no clue how it will affect your lives.

Deport the criminals, deport the leaches but we better find a way to properly tax those who participate in our economy and give them a chance to assimilate.

Plenty of good people will work for $25-$30 an hour and benefits

7 million men are out of the workforce and fast food can be automated to get men back in to trade instead of doing dead jobs to keep the government happy you still employ humans.

Think again, construction is the main source of illegal workers. Every industry has some I’m sure but construction is the leader.

Prosecuting employers, from the chicken plant owners to the roofing contractor, has been the answer all along. Problem is, most of them are Republican, so that causes problems.

Even the meat plant raids get Republican resistance. GW Bush raided some plants, and the R congressmen from the Midwest areas begged him to stop, and he did.

I’d like to see massive prosecution of employers and deportations of illegal workers. It will be an interesting social and economic experiment. We may decide to invite the deported back, or we may be cool with paying way more for food, construction, etc. if our kids can get good paying jobs nailing shingles or picking tomatoes. I honestly want to see what happens.

You’d be surprised… But either way I am not talking about lawn guys- I am talking about experienced construction tradesmen who are paid by the job and not by the hour.

The highest paid one I work with made north or 250k last year and the average around 70k per year.

I could give a shite the status of the person doing the job just as long as someone shows up to do it and has the skill set to get it done… and there ain’t ever a honky around.
