They only apply to non-disabled, not pregnant individuals without children.

Here’s the real reason they are upset.

These individuals are working for cash and not paying taxes.

If they have to report they are working, that info Can get shared with tax authorities.

And if they have to start reporting income, that’s going to mess up their eligibility for all sorts of government benefits.

This hits their employers as well.

I have a filter on the dating sites to weed these out.

The main reason is the healthcare industry. They want as many indignant people to qualify for Medicaid as possible.

Exactly - able-bodied, childless adults between 19-64 required to work 80 hours per month (ie Part Time).

They tend not to increase employment but increase red tape.

Arkansas tried this a couple years back and it was a disaster

No, a federal court suspended the program back in 2019. Sanders back in Jan. of this year has submitted another proposal for work requirements for Medicaid.

It should be so hard to receive benefits from the taxpayer that those who can actually work would rather work than deal with the hardship.

Sure there will be a story here and there that tugs at heartstrings, but the current abuse is unsustainable, and everyone loses if we maintain status quo.

Currently I have a case worker meeting with my wife over my disabled son ( born with severe spinal cord injury) that took 7-1/2 years for him to be accepted for Medicare/ SSI. It’s not always easy if you’re coming from a family with the wrong “ demographics or income bracket

I don't give a flying shite why they are upset about it, work requirements for much of the Medicaid recipients is needed and the right thing to do.

Why should a person with kids get a pass, that takes out the vast majority???

It might not increase employment but it it might bring that employment into the tax system and reduce other benefits.

Well this isn't true. There aren't that many cash jobs out there.

The real reason is the easiest/most obvious one. They are lazy and want stuff for free.

Why is there an exception for people with kids? If their income level qualifies for medicaid, then their income likely qualifies them for state-subsidized daycare. Get to work

OK name them. Other than Waiter/Waitress name something that you think a large part of the able bodied workers are doing to make cash money.

My roofer gave me a $500 discount if I paid him in cash.

I did.

Construction/trades
Landscaping
Restaurant work- not just servers but cooks and dishwashers
Housekeeping
Beauty services - do you see women advertising hair & nail services out of their home? Do you think they are reporting all that income?

Restaurant work- not just servers but cooks and dishwashers - very very few restaurants operate this way.
Housekeeping - mostly illegals

Again, most of these people on Medicaid aren’t gaming the system by working for cash.
They are gaming the system by being lazy and not doing anything

Trying to equate people being pissed because they won’t be able to work for cash is just plain wrong. They are pissed because now they are going to have to do something.
