The other day a woman at the tire store wanted to chat it up for 10 minutes without letting the employee get a word in, everything from the weather, her family, gas prices, her entire life, etc with 5 people before her in line, many of whom looked to be needing to get back to work.

Then a similar experience today at the DMV with a guy who wanted to make small talk with the clerk with a bunch of people waiting in line. I thought everyone in line at the DMV was on the same page that we all wanted to get out of there as fast as possible?

I wonder if people like this are really just clueless about their surroundings or if they simply don’t care

They're probably lonely.

My dad was kind of like that. He’d have one-sided conversations that the other party clearly had no interest in and kept going and going. The worst is when he would chat with Palestinian restaurant owners about his time in Israel like they were buddies.

Women in general are completely unaware of what is going around them

May have been my ex girlfriend. That bitch could talk the bark off a tree.

5 years later, her incessant complaining is still ringing in my ears.

Everybody’s on drugs now. Drugs make you talk a lot.

Are you talking about people...

Leaving their shopping cart in the middle of the lane?

Or those that stop in the street to make a right turn?

Some people are like that. My FIL, no matter where he's at, will chat up whoever is standing next to him. I'm kinda envious bc I'm the exact opposite. If I'm out in public, I'm on some mission to get X, Y, & Z done & return as quickly as possible with hopefully as little human interaction as necessary.

My mom is like this. She assumes every waiter/waitress wants to have a half hour conversation and is offended when they don't.

People are completely oblivious or have zero concern about anyone but themselves anymore. Everyone thinks their time is the most important and considers themselves the star of their own little universe.

You can see this more and more in just the way people drive. They're in a hurry and their time is more important than yours, or anyone else's.

It's a mindset I do not understand especially when it happens in shared spaces, with shared resources, and on a team. The individual is all that matters and the collective good is only a bonus so long as the net result still benefits them.

A lot of lonely people that don’t give a shite as long as they get some interaction. But yes also a lot of people that don’t even see a world outside of their direct bubble

This is one of my biggest pet peeves along with those who walk slow in the middle of the isle
