Dog ate a rib bone (pork)

Tried giving my boy some pork meat off the bone, he snatched the whole thing and woofed it down.
Small maybe 3 inch baby back rib bone. I know they aren't supposed to have them, and he has probably eaten worse running around in the woods but he's my buddy.
Anything to worry about? Precautionary vet visit? Just monitor and see how he does?
This is a70 lb golden doodle BTW.

Did he chew the bone or swallow whole?
Sounds like swallowed whole.
I’d think it would cause a blockage but not a vet.

Pretty sure he swallowed it whole. When he snatched it he went off and it looked like he just swallowed it.

If he starts looking bloated, puking, and not shitting go to the vet ASAP

If he vomits or stops eating it’s worth a vet visit. If not he is probably fine. Most bones will dissolve and the bigger problem is them splintering while getting chewed and getting lodged in the esophagus

My catahoula ate about ten baby back bones today. She also had some Mac and cheese and a roll or two the kids gave her.

I am not a vet, but dogs eat bones all the time. He'll be fine.

Thanks. I know that deep down, but I also like my dog more than I like 99% of people
Boudreaux (big Bou) had zero regrets

I give my dogs pork bones all the time. Don’t sweat it.

Pay close attention to his poops next few days, see if it passes. If you don't see it and your dog has trouble pooping, go see the vet asap.

I hear ya. My dog is my best friend too.
I’ve spent more on vet bills than I spend going to the doctor.
My post was more along the lines of, “What’s done is done.” Just keep an eye on him. He’ll throw it up if it bothers his stomach. Then he’ll probably eat it again.
Dogs are great, but they can be kind of gross by our standards.

Used to give my dogs bones all the time. Gave my GR a pork bone once, didn't blink an eye. Later in the day I notice under his chin was wet. Opened his mouth and a bone was lodged on the roof of his mouth, and he couldn't get it out and neither could I. Took him to the vet and had to knock him out to get that damn bone out. Never do it again.

My Golden has taken down some ribs bone and all (he stole them off the counter). He had some coming out if both ends for a day or so but fine after that. Vet not necessary thankfully.

My golden retriever puppy snagged a chicken bone and the vet wanted to do an X-ray for my wife, of course all this was without talking to me.
Dogs, wolves, coyotes, fox, etc eat bones all the time. I’m sure there’s issue but you have to assume it’s vastly over rated issue. It was like a $400 X-ray and of course dog was fine. Vet is going to be extra cautious. I’d do as said and just monitor and move on with life.

Happened to my ex girlfriend’s puppy a long time ago. Freaked us out, but the dog was fine.

There is a big difference between cooked and raw bones

I'm sure you are right. But road kill that's been dead on the black top for days on end isn't much different than a slow smoked chicken or pork bone. Bears and coons eat trash out of dumpsters all the time.
The main difference and issue is often that domesticated dogs stomachs are not used to bones and likely don't have the stomach so to say for them.
