New Guy Ritchie movie on Apple with John Krasinski and Natalie Portman. The premise is basically National Treasure except with guns and fighting. Sounds great, but it lacked all the charm of National Treasure. Run time was around 2 hours but it felt like 3.

I’m not particularly surprised, Krasinski tends to come across as pretty flat on screen, at least to me. I’ve never quite understood the appeal.

Very accurate assessment. Him in his imaginary friend movie and as Reed Richards in Dr Strange 2 are other examples. He would not have been a great Captain America for this reason.

That being said, I like adventure movies so I’ll be checking this out.

While it wasn’t entirely his fault, I understand why John Hamm so relentlessly wanted to kill Baby in Baby Driver.

Watched it last night.

Natalie Portman looks damn near 60.

Acting was terrible.
Dialogue was weak.
Movie was not very good.

But, I made it through and will probably watch the inevitable shitty sequel.

As do I. It was entertaining, it wasn't as good as National Treasure.

This might be the most accurate comparison yet.

Fountain of Youth and Sahara are 5s. They are watchable and ok. They aren't great movies, there's some Latina eye candy to be seen, and the acting is subpar. But they are just pseudo-fun movies to watch.

Man I was so excited for this movie. Indiana Jones and National Treasure are all-timers for me. I’ve liked almost everything Apple has put out lately so was really pumped for this one, but damn it was a mess.

We’re asleep twice watching it and ended up never even finishing. The Jim as Indiana Jones dynamic was so bad. I like John, but I just don’t know what his swim lane is, he’s so weird and stale in so many things.

The dynamic between him and Portman was also weird, like part brother sister dynamic but also part sorta flirtatious between the two of them. Did not vibe.

I did appreciate that almost all of the set pieces appeared to be largely real effects and not CGI. The action sequences really did look good. Everything else was awful.

Wasn't great but I made it through it. I guess watching the little Mexican girl helped

I thought Guy Ritchie so this is gonna be really good. I tried to like it, but it just felt like it dragged and just didn’t engage me..

Yeah he does like charisma you want in an action star.

I didn’t hate it… but it was not great. I’d watch it again with my kids or parents when visiting if they hadn’t seen it but that’s about it.

Don’t read this as an a detraction. It was fun and had a lot of good set pieces.

In regular terms it’s a B-/C+… for streaming it’s a B+/A

The opening scene was the only thing that had a scent of a Guy Ritchie film.

I can watch anything, especially some adventure shite.

This movie was unwatchable to me. Turned it off in 20 minutes. Acting and dialogue was horrific. I have to blame the director, because not all of those acting in the movie are that bad.
