1) Submarines.
Das Boot, Red October, Operation Petticoat, The Land that Time Forgot... if they're in a submarine, I'm there.
2) Spiraling into defeat until the Cavalry coming to the rescue.
Avengers: Endgame, the Millennium Falcon's return at the end of Star Wars, the T-Rex at the end of Jurassic Park... It's a tired trope but I love it.

Movies were the bad guys lose and good guys win. Especially if the bad guys are Nazis. And the good guys are good, not conflicted.

But the real bad guys were the Soviets. Ask Patton (before they killed him)

Espionage especially when it focusses on trade-craft over action.

I always seem to like old movies that take place on a train or an ocean liner. They just almost always seem to work for me, regardless of genre. Comedy, mystery, adventure, melodrama, whatever.
Of course, that's more of a backdrop than a 'plot,' so maybe it's not really addressing the question.

I love a good mystery and I’m a sucker for apocalypse type shows. Sci-Fi is up there also.

A good historical plot, even if there's some fiction woven in. The anglophile in me loves that shite.
Love a good hate to romance plot if it's done well.
