Wow been awhile since I’ve seen a 99-0 vote on anything that matters.

fricking retarded.
Not that many tipped ppl pay taxes anyway.
But, it's a horrible precedent.

What precedent does this set?

I pretty much agree with your sentiment, but anything that takes money out of the government’s pockets is a good thing. Hard working servers need a break

Why should they not pay taxes on their income while everyone else does?

People working the drive-thru already pay Zero federal income taxes.

If it doesn’t include credit card tips, this is just a clever way to get people to claim their cash tips that they otherwise wouldn’t have.

Outside of valet type jobs, cash tips make up a very small portion of the majority of tipped employees’ income.

I think it sounds good and I’m glad Trump thought of it before the dems. It’s probably not that much revenue anyway. If it helps some younger people and those working in the hospitality industry, fine.

The SALT tax relief now that’s a big chunk of money that helps multi millionaires in high tax, mostly blue states who could for the most part move, then that one needs to get 86’ed quickly.

I think no income tax is a fantastic precedent. Let's expand this to every other form of income.

“No tax on tips” is part of the big beautiful bill

I wonder if it can now be removed from that bill because it can be passed separately?

Don't be so sure... there's some kind of base formula that's used to tax tips automatically, I believe.

I worked a $2.45 tip job back in the day. We were supposed to enter our tips into the electronic pad at end of shift, but a minimum existed.

Now, did we ever claim over the minimum reported tips? Nope, lol.

Maybe it was just my place of employment, but that's how I remember it. 1998-2000 @ WaffleHouse fwiw.

And no, I never had to throw hands, but I *did* work briefly at one that had "hazard pay" included. Not for long at that store, though.

So this means we don't have to tip as much right?

If the house can pass the same stand alone bill then it will be take. Out of the current house reconciliation bill and they can cut an equal tax savings amount elsewhere since a reconciliation bill must pay for itself with tax cuts and spending g cuts

So now we can reduce the amount that we tip, because the servers will be keeping all of it.

I’m guessing if 99-0 in Senate the house will get 50% easy. It’s a good sign you’ll get dems in the house as well. Repubs voting against would look idiotic.
