Good afternoon, folks.

I saw this proposed trade on "The Lead," so thought I would solicit your opinions. The article proposes sending Herb to Memphis for a 2027 first (top six protected), Brandon Clarke, and a 2029 first round swap. The kicker is, the first becomes two second round selections if not conveyed.

At first glance, I liked it, but not if it results in the two second rounds. Clarke isn't terrible as a back up. Makes more sense if we land KK or another wing in the draft.

Thoughts ?

Have a great day !

I wouldn't do that trade if it was Herb for Clarke and a 1st, much less Herb and a 1st for Clarke and a fricking pick swap.

We aren't sending a first.

Memphis- Herb
Nola - Clarke, 1st, right to pick swap

Still a no though.

They'll probably have to move Herb at some point, and I often say this fanbase is way to attached to certain guys, but frick no to that deal

Nope. I wouldn't trade herb unless hes apart of large deal for a superstar

His value is insane based on his contract.

Herb for Clarke and a first is good.
This board is too much in love with Herb… great player, etc…

But gonna have pony up $ soon…. He’s a difference maker on a contender…. We aren’t that. Get value while you can

Without commenting on whether that trade is good or bad for the Pels...I'll just say that Herb's "trade value" will very likely NEVER be as high as it is at this time. Your comment..."But gonna have to pony up $ soon…. He’s a difference maker on a contender…. We aren’t that. Get value while you can"..is spot on...and is WHY this is probably the optimal time for the Pelicans to move Herb.

Find a serious playoff contender...and odds are...they will see HUGE value...in a player like Herb.

Of the playoff contender who do you think would have the most interest in herb? And what could they offer?

Seriously...if the Pelicans actually have a desire to add Morant to their squad...THIS is the time to do it.

Obviously gonna have to be more than JUST Herb... for Ja...but, I think the Grizz are definitely ready to move Ja...IF...the Pels wish to pull the trigger.

Nuggets would be #1 on my list...the problem is...for Denver to find enough "stuff" to throw at the Pels...it will require some very creative thinking on the part of the Nuggets.

Other serious playoff contenders that might well be looking for something to push them into becoming VERY serious playoff contenders are...may sound strange...but the Grizzlies IF they move Ja and get some other very solid new players...in addition to Herb.

I want to add Mavs to that list...but I have NO idea what their roster will look like...after the smoke clears...with the addition of Flagg. Just no telling who stays...and who goes.

Gonna be a wild & wooly summer...with a bunch of REALLY talented players moving to...well...no tellin' where !!!

Is this the yearly thread where fans bitch that players at their highest value are "untradeable" only to bitch later that "we should have traded them at their highest value"?

I agree that Herb is better used in a trade for an upgrade BUT you don't walk away from a 1st/ swap/ role player.

You do when the role player isn't 75% of the player you're trading away.

I think we should trade Herb while his value is high due to his contract, but Clarke and a protected first is not getting it done.

There are better returns for him.

Bruh we could trade for the ghost of Chris Herren + 1st + swap and it would be worth it.

Herb is not worth 2+ 1st and a player of close/ equal value. The value IS a 1st + swap, the player shouldn't even matter.

The fact that yall actually think a player needs to be at certain level in a package with a 1st + swap for Herb is fricking nuts.

The dude was undrafted and averages 10pts/ 4reb/ 3ast.

Herb is worth a 1st + swap and Dyson is worth (2) 1st. Any other assets should be for matching salary and shouldn't effect the trade value....

I've got no interest in cheering for a team with a wannabe thug who is never on the court either b/c he's a fricking idiot or hurt, and a lazy fatass who's also never on the court as the two best players.
Morant is going to eventually do something stupid and end up in jail. He thinks he's hard, but someone who's actually hard that has nothing to lose is going to push him enough to make him do something too stupid at some point.

The Celtics have been rumored to look to shake things up this offseason. They can't keep staying in the 2nd Apron even though they've got tons of money.
Horford is 38 and Porzingis can't stay healthy.

If i were a betting, Porzingis is getting moved this offseason. They can't have $110M in Tatum Brown, and then pay 3 more guys $30M each. They're a tax team with just 5 guys every year.

The move is CJ to a 3rd team, Porzingis to the Pels.
