GOP Senator drops bill to outlaw all porn

Can we all fricking agree this is simply a no. I know it’s part of project 2025, and probably can be done since “porn” may not be protected as free speech. (Open question here on what USSC would do with that question. Playboy porn seems like it’s entitled to free speech protection while hustler probably not), but it’s just a dumb idea and will do nothing but piss people off. I am not defending porn but just pointing out you can not legitimately legislate morality anymore than you can legislate what people think.

It’s prohibition all over again. I hope this is just an appeasement deal and we are not serious about this

Do you think 10-year-olds have a Constitutional right to access porn?

This is dumb, would require serious encroachments on civil liberties and privacy to even attempt to enforce, and would also be impossible to enforce.

Lucky for me I still kept all of my Granny's old issues of National Geographic magazine because I knew this day would come.

All speech should be protected. Hate speech. Porn. Etc.

I’m 100% convinced the GOPe is doing everything they can to guarantee they don’t have full control of Congress for the last two years of the Trump administration.

There’s no other explanation for their behavior.

This is as stupid as asking if a 6 year old has a Constitutional right to an AR-15.

Good. These kids have it too easy these days

We used to have to sneak out the porn mag and make sure to return it in perfect order of the stack or you were fricked

Child porn sure. But adult porn? Define it first.
This is a slippery slope. I vote for less government, not more.

I think a 10-year-old gets porn not only because of their nature as a human being but also because they access it through their own situation (i.e. family/parent)

But hey, I only know from experience.....

Lee is usually spot on with civil liberties, so this is really disappointing. I have to guess it’s a play to the Mormon base?

Is it harder for a 10 year old to access porn than it is for a 6 year old to get an AR15?

Is there a social cost to porn? Is there a social cost to young boys accessing porn? Who bears the cost? I know these are all tremendously unpopular questions on Internet forums. But I’ll ask them anyway.

Sure. And parent engagement and involvement is steps 1,2 and 3. But we don’t allow 10 year olds to purchase porn. Why?

All freedoms come with a cost. Just replace porn with guns and you'll see how foolish you sound.

We better ban guns! Think of the children!
