Sadly, a far too typical game against the Mets tonight He left the game in the 7th with a 2-1 lead, but the bullpen promptly gave up the lead in the bottom of the inning. Between a porous bullpen and a light-hitting offense, the guy has tough luck all the time.

I know Skenes maxxed out on his money by being the #1 pick, but man is he paying for it now. That guy is a competitor, and it just makes me wonder how tough the losing is for him to take.

PS - He helped LSU win it all in 2023, so I think it's okay to talk about him on this board. If not, they can move it to More Sports.

I hope he gets to a better team soon….

But, with the money he got, I don’t feel sorry for him!

He will likely be traded for a large haul in the next two years.

The Pirates useless owner won't even demand a good package in return.

It is tough for him there. I her he has an excellent support system after a hard day though. Rumor has it his GF is a smoke show.

You aren’t wrong. The Astros didn’t give up anything of value for Cole. He was basically a two year rental though.

He’s under team control til 2030 but they might. When he hits arbitration they gonna have to pay him 30-40mil/yr

I hope he eventually lands somewhere serious about winning too. But hard to feel sorry for the guy. Dude is 22 years old and so far has:

- Partially served in the Air Force
- Won a CWS ring
- Drafted 1st overall with a near $10 mil signing bonus
- Started an MLB all star game
- Won NL ROTY
- Has Livvy doing gymnastics on his pole

I think he's doing fine for himself

whether they are winning, or losing, he is still getting paid the same. Sure, it would be better to be winning...but as long as he is pitching well he will get the chance to play for a contender, soon. All that money makes it a little easier to take losing...

When he becomes a FA it's NYC or LA for him. PLus if they are still together Livvy will want to be in either location. There's a reason she bought an apartment in NYC not Pitt.

We'll see. I'm not sure that Paul is an NYC or LA guy. He doesn't seem to care much for the spotlight.

Think he can develop a Boston accent?

BUT the Yankees, Mets or Dodgers have the deepest pockets and can actually win.

I wouldn't mind seeing him with the Rangers, although the Rangers seem to have forgotten how to score runs since they won the 2023 World Series. If his arm remains healthy, he'll certainly go to a club that can spend money.

He's from California, so I guess I could see LA before NYC. Boston, Philly, or maybe even St. Louis could be in the mix, too.

I could see the Mets trading for him to get a few years out of him before his big contract, but I do not see us signing him when he is a free agent. We don't really prioritize spending big contracts on starting pitching, at least right now in the current front office.

They have the deepest pockets for sure. A few other clubs spend pretty well, too. I haven't look at player payroll numbers in awhile, though.

You sure he's not an LA guy? Might want to check his hometown.

They should split the difference and come to the Rangers. DFW airport is a 3 hour flight to both
