Arkansas starter today

I was surprised to see Arkansas starting Gage Wood tonight. Coming off an injury, he has only pitched 14.1 innings this year. I gather they think he is their best when healthy, but it doesn’t say much for their regular weekend Saturday starter if they are pitching a guy who has just 11 innings under his belt. From what I can tell, they are limiting his pitches on his return from injury.
LSU, on the other hand, starts the strike machine Eyanson. The quality of his missed pitches is one thing that makes Eyanson so good. He stays around the zone.
You would think that this pitching matchup really favors LSU. I would have expected a top team like Arky to have a more regular Saturday starter.
I am sure Wood is a stud when healthy, but the lack of game experience this year has to be a concern for them pitching him.

Absolutely no concern for them pitching him haha. Have you seen his last two starts? Stupid arse take.

Get him out by the 5th and keep making them use arm because tomorrow could turn into a shootout

I think we have to use Casan Evans tonight if we lead late in a close game.

He looked like one of the best pitchers in the country last week against Texas. 9 Ks 0 BB in 4 innings.
He has 14 Ks 0 BB in 7 innings in his last 2 starts.

Gaeckle was their Saturday guy up until 3 weeks ago. They started bringing wood back. He got rocked hs first game. Last week against TX he threw 57 pitches. That was his longest outing this year. They have been brining Gaeckle in to back him up. That ain’t happening today more than likely.

Against Texas last weekend he only pitched 4 innings but he had 9k's.

I don’t think that’s even a question. Do whatever it takes to win today

In 3 starts in the SEC he has 7.1 IP and has not gone more than 4 innings in any game.
His outing vs A&M was really bad. 0.1 IP with 3 earned runs. He faced 5 batters, gave up 3 hits, and 1 BB. Hits were a single, a double, and a home run.
Since then, in two games (Florida & Texas), he has pitched 7 innings total, giving up 3 hits(1 2b), no walks, 1 earned run with 14 Ks, 3 FOs, and 4 GOs in 24 ABs. His last outing was his first decision, a win, against Texas.

Yep, it is all about winning 2 of 3.

They ramped him up from like 40 pitches 1st start, then 50 something, now it’s likely they’ll try 70 if he don’t get smashed!

I agree but I think they'll try to close it with Rizy first after his outing last week

Zero doubt unless it’s nut close.

pretty dumb statements imo
He was lights out last week.....yeah, they may only pitch him 5 innings...but he is damn good, and would be their ace. They can simply move the Saturday started to Sunday....very solid starting pitching all 3 games for them.

Wood will frick this lineup up until he comes out. I expect another low scoring affair

Not really. It’s a dumb take by someone who obviously doesn’t keep up with SEC baseball.
