Louisiana Insurance Crisis - It could be getting worse

Regarding Landry backed bill
Bottom line is Landry wants to do nothing to stop the problem but point the blame at Temple if he doesn’t force Is Louisiana the next California rates down. Rates are solely the result of expected losses based on actuarial opinion. This bill removes actuarial opinions from rate setting and makes it the commissioner’s sole digression.
If he can blame Temple he can deflect the blame from himself.
Louisiana gonna Louisiana

Fun fact:
quote:
During his time as a St. Martin Parish deputy, Landry shared a rental home in St. Martinville with two friends, one a childhood friend, and the other a fellow deputy. The fellow deputy smuggled about $10,000 worth of cocaine and stashed it underneath their home. Once his roommates caught on to the crime, they turned him in to the police, who executed a search warrant, which Landry signed. After the 1993 search of the home, his roommate lost his job and went to prison

Why can’t the legislature find the 5-7 states with the lowest rates in the country - analyze the laws they work in those states - and adopt them here …. Oh wait because they profit from the screed up system in LA

Why would any lawyer want change. Why would the insurance market want to change.
Lawyer's and Insurance Companies "donate" to politicians campaign funds.
Politicians don't want change either.
System is broken.

The good news is that home prices will drop as people leave Louisiana.

There's a reason former State Sen. Sharon Hewitt referred to Gov. Landry as "Lawsuit Landry" during the 2023 campaign.
Conservative/Republican leaning voters in Louisiana didn't want to listen, though.

Our study of car insurance costs across the U.S. found that Maine residents have the cheapest average annual rate: $949 per year. Idaho is the next cheapest at $992 annually. For comparison’s sake, drivers in Louisiana, which has the highest sample rate in our analysis, pay a state average of $2,734 annually for car insurance. That’s almost three times the average in Maine.

It’s sad that you millenials complain about how much things cost instead of working a few more hours and budgeting

I'm a Republican and would rather have Blanco back.

There are many reasons why Louisiana struggles, but there is no greater villain than the attorneys and their lobbyists.
They've had our last few governors in their back pocket and our population hypnotized by their lame obnoxious advertisements.

Landry will be playing to the best interest of the Plaintiff’s Bar, not citizens, and especially not insurance providers.

Of course Maine isn't subject to hurricanes, hailstorms, major metro areas of high theft and vandalism, or substantial numbers of uninsured (often non-citizen) drivers.
A better analogy would be Texas. Mississippi should be worse from a torts perspective at least. Wonder how those compare?

Absolutely hilarious the "solution" is just pass the buck to someone else and blame them for it not changing. Clown show continues

Landry thinks his constituents are stupid. That if he pushes the blame off on other people, it’ll take the heat off him.
Ask him what he was doing with the other legislatures & Gordon on that hunting trip last month.
