What does this exactly mean? I’m hoping and assuming it’s something to do with NIL limitations

Hopefully transfers too maybe scheduling consistency as well?

I don’t understand how the federal government is going to regulate free market economics and capitalism?
College athletics as we know it died when NIL passed. Unfortunate but I don’t understand why we can set out to make the most money possible but a kid who can throw a leather ball well or jump high and put a circular ball threw a circle can’t maximize their earning potential. This only stops when we stop watching it on tv or going to games (which will never happen).
Only way football specifically dies is if the rule changes keep getting worse and worse, making it unwatchable

Saban is a full of shite loser on this issue.
He opposes NIL for one reason: it hurts bama because now it’s legal to do what bama was doing illegally for decades. They have lost their golden goose
He wants to go back to the Pre NIL days where schools willing to break the rules (bama) get all the riches
Now he is literally trying to get the federal govt involved
What a corrupt midget

Look Saban at this point in his career is looking to be a part of the reason the college game doesn’t implode.
His bias and give a shite about personally protecting Bama is out the window now. Pandora’s box is open.
But he will get things better regulated and the win will be having players not up and leave whenever they want, and negotiating stupid high priced deals where other schools can’t compete.
I personally think this is a great spot for him to be in right now.
Shite needs to change now.

I think they will put in a salary cap. Technically you're not stopping players from getting nil, you're limiting schools on how much they can spend. Schools are going to have to be very selective on how much they spend per player.
I think they should limit the amount of times you can transfer. Players should get 1 transfer and after that you have to sit out 4 games.

Who brought the lawsuits on? Saban? Once the courts got involved, the Federal government would soon enough.
Saban is not trying to help bama. He’s trying to save college athletics.

quote:how about because they’re getting a scholarship to go to that college this is not supposedly professional football that comes at a later time. These are not supposedly professional athletes. Yes they do deserve to get money to live on while they are in school, but not become millionaires.

And then when they don’t make the right choice on choosing a college, they take their ball and run away and go home then some players hop from school to school and are like paid mercenaries
Yes, I do believe they should get a cut off of Jersey sales and products and associate their name, but that’s it

How can you determine that they can't be millionaires?
That doesn't make sense that they should get a cut of jersey sales and products associated with their names, but not get a cut off of what makes their jersey and names sell...their game.
Bumper rails need to be in place, sure...but don't knock the kids being able to play the capitalism game that has played them for so long.

Desperate need to curtail college sports runaway NIL and transfer portal nonsense. Must have limitations.

Laughable considering he was the biggest cheater ever.

Actually, I don’t think Saban’s dislike of NIL has anything to do with ‘now erbody’ gets to pay their players. It’s all about all the extra hustling you have to do. Gone are the days of you sign someone and they’re yours for 3-4 years. Gone are the gray shirts. Instead, now you have to re-recruit your recruits at the end of the season. It’s such a tremendous sea change that I can’t blame him. So what’s the fix? They absolutely need a limit on what schools can pay out total to players. And frick some luxury tax bullshite. They need a hard cap…then kids will be waaaaay less jumpy and transfer prone. With a salary cap…it won’t be the wild, wild west anymore.

The supreme court won't let that fly. Limiting what someone can earn on their NIL would have no grounds.
Our best shot is to better define what NIL is and isn't.

Attending college will soon be gone, more than it is now. Before long, just being registered is all that will be required.

People really do not understand capitalism. Liberals keeps parroting this same phrase on social media about literally everything positive.
Dear world: capitalism has millions of guidelines and laws. It is meant for all to prosper in a fair competitive environment. The current state of college sports is the opposite. Many programs will soon begin shutting down if things continue this way.

Alabama’s cheating will be codified

i think the 1st step is making it officially NIL (i know it is already), and any activity outside of that will be severely punished. Its not pay for play, so if that happens, death penalty type shite. but we live a world where what's good for them isn't good for me.
also, if you're being paid to come to a school there, put extremely hard regulations on tampering, and then limit the transfer portal.
i'm not of fan of the way NIL is being abused, though i think they deserve a cut, but PFP + free transfers is what's killing the interest, other than to those financially benefiting from it.

I hate NIL.
I'll continue to watch for now because I love football.
But it's a shitshow. Just leading to more entitlement

This is a big part of the issue. I would do it this way
• 1 free transfer.
• Subsequent transfers would require you to either
----| sit out a year
----| give up a year of eligibility (player's choice).
----| As an alternative to sitting a year or giving up a year of eligibility, I could see tying it to the number of games played, quantified by a game being counted if you were in greater than 1/3 of the snaps for your side of the ball. So, a guy who sat the bench for two years would either get a second free pass or have to sit a year, but a guy who was a two-year starter would have to sit two years. Just a thought.
• Exceptions allowing immediate play upon second transfer would be
----| grad transfers
----| the head coach leaves
----| your position coach leaves (I go back and forth on that one)
----| program dissolves (obvious one)
----| program sanctions unrelated to player
----| dismissal from team or scholarship withdrawn
----| breach of contract by the school if contracts become a thing

You are still going to have a lot of what you have now, though. For instance, the Bryce Underwood situation was technically a NIL deal outside of the athletic department. The transfer issue is all that the NCAA or whatever comes out of this committee will reasonably have control over. And I truly believe a more limited portal availability will curb some of the wild west scenario that has come into play.
