I really hope his role in the front office is honorary. Appreciate him for years and years of winning but he hung around about 8 years too long.

On another note, cool to see Ginobili and Duncan are still engaged with SAS.

Man, he looks ROUGH. Can barely move - hell, he can't even take his jacket off by himself. I wonder what his actual duties will be. His title says President of Basketball Operations, but there's no way he is in good enough shape to do that effectively. I'd be shocked if he made it to next NBA season

He's an old arse man that partially ruined his legacy by hanging on too long. I'd be shocked if he wasn't basically forced out.

Prime example of what you'll grow to look like when TDS haunts you.

It’s bad when Clint Eastwood looks healthier than you

I hated Popp 25 years ago because I hated the spurs before he ever got political. Kind of pathetic to see a bunch of internet posters dunking on an 80 year old man who just had a stroke though

He looked just as bad before the stroke. Constantly worrying about climate change, women rights and race issues really age a person.

Most of the way he did those walking on, or off, the court interviews was for show. He was a dude that would dress you down for asking a stupid question, but so would Don Nelson & Jerry Sloan. Guys from that era, especially former players like Nelson & Sloan, kept you on your toes.

One conversation the Mavs and SA media had with Pop, outside the AAC visitors locker room, that's stands out, was early in the 2005-2006 season. Pop talked about the great job Avery Johnson was doing with the Mavs. He mentioned how he had the team all standing with their hands over their hearts for the National Anthem, and the media all laughed. He said, "No, I really mean that. It's not easy to get everyone on the same page like that. It carries over to the way they play together."

I've mentioned this before I never asked anyone, but I always assumed the team all standing like that was mostly because Dirk, and older respected guys, that came and went, like Jerry Stackhouse & Adrian Griffen all did it.

I've always respected Popovich for his military service. Graduating from the Air Force Academy with a degree in Soviet Studies and then serving as an intelligence officer in the early 70's is a lot more than most of us have done for the good ole US of A.

Nah, he's always been a disgruntled, condescending prick. Military service doesn't give him an excuse to be an a-hole. Especially him being a Soviet intelligence officer. Popovich, you say? Probably a double agent, certainly a propagandist.
