Ideally limited to one frame of a movie. Best one I can think of is Matthew McConaughey in Wolf of Wall Street, but very interested to see opinions.

I already upvoted Hannibal because that is the correct answer. Just throwing Bubba in there from Gump to keep it going.

This and Beatrice Straight (Louise Schumacher) in Network. She was only on screen for ~5mins and won an Academy award for it.

Initially Darth Vader in ANH

obviously the rest of the trilogy changes that.

There are several that spring to mind:

Alec Baldwin in Glengarry Glenn Ross
Ned Beatty in Network
Anthony Hopkins in The Silence of the Lambs
Maximilian Schell in Judgment at Nuremberg

Few Good Men. Ground crew men brought into court right when jack nicholson was on the stand to make him nervous about the flight he made up.

I didn’t get it at the time (still kinda don’t) but at the time Marlon Brando’s brief appearance in the original Superman was a huge deal

I don't know about this. He was in 7-8 prominent scenes. Hell, he even ended the movie. I would not call these brief appearances.
