I remember right before the first game of the 2023 baseball season

Someone on here said Jared Jones would leave as one of the best hitters in LSU history. It sounded like a wild take at the time but, he’s about to be top 3 of all time in career homers and in only less than 3 seasons. Shout out to that guy. Nice call.

Until sec play fr year that was a valid argument

Not sure he’ll be quite on that level. But you can definitely say he’s had a great career here. Already with a championship hopefully he gets another before finished.

I mean he’s been good, but to consider him one of the best of all time that’s a bit of a stretch IMO.

Well in terms of home runs it's an undeniable fact.

You would remember that well. It's right before you quit on the team.

Sure, but he isn't close to one of the best hitters in LSU history.
Good player, great power.

LOTS of great hitters have come through this program, LOTS. It has been great to see the potential and then witness the young man continue to improve. How about we put him in the Dirty Dozen of great hitters, maybe even the top 10.

Glad he hits bombs. He is also a strikeout king. He will need to significantly improve in that area if he wants MLB

He may make an LSU all decade team when all is said and done.

Depending on what metric you use, he could be near the top of the list.

we can compare him to a big First base his size that has his number retired.
For the record, I’m not saying Jones should have his number retired. No way. I’m just comparing stats.
He hits homers at a higher clip against tougher competition than Eddie Furniss with equipment that is not as easy to hit with.
His OPS is almost 1200. Now I don’t know what that was for Doc but that’s still damn pretty good.
He hits a home run about every 10 ABs. Doc was about one every 12.
He is a better first baseman than Furniss ever was.
Is he going to hit .400 against this competition? No, but it is my opinion that I don’t think Doc had against the competition with the equipment that current players have.
It is interesting though his OPS is 1147 and Dylan Crews OPS was 1187. He has more opportunities to hit more home runs, which will boost his OPS.
If you really want to start digging look at Curiel versus Crews.

I'd put him in the upper echelons, sure. He's got top tier power. I don't think he's the best hitter to ever come through here, probably not by a long shot. I don't think he'd probably be even the top power bat, but he's at least worthy of being in the conversation. At a place like LSU, that's a pretty solid accomplishment on its own.

In all honesty man who in lsu history has had more power than Jones?? Give Jones that bat from the late 90s and he probably literally could hit it across Nicholson

he’s 2 behind McClure for 3rd most in LSU history.
McClure played 4 seasons and Bear isn’t finished year 3 yet.
and Trey had over 200 more at bats (at the peak of Gorilla Ball) than Jones does right now.

Retard fans think homers = hitting.
Just sayin

Retards usually say retard way too much. But no that’s just the best part of his game. But his 300 plus batting average is another sign as well.

And Jones only played a little over half of his freshman season

Considering all the work from then until now…. It still a valid argument….
