Louisiana motorists will continue to be required to have their vehicles inspected annually or once every two years after a legislative committee killed a bill to eliminate the state's vehicle safety inspection sticker program Monday.
Lawmakers on the House Transportation Committee rejected Republican Larry Bagley's House Bill 232 on a 6-5 vote.
Bagley, who is making his third attempt to eliminate the program, said 39 other states have done away with inspection stickers, including "all Republican states," he said. The latest state to eliminate inspection stickers was Texas beginning this year.

Aren’t we all so grateful for our small government conservative leadership?

paying the highest premiums in the country and yet can't save a useless $20 inspection sticker tag that literally does nothing.

Louisianans are conservatives until you try to eliminate a tax, govt revenue stream, or a program.

I haven’t had a brake tag in at least 6 years.
But I live in New Orleans where laws are not enforced.

4cubbies rejects proposal to admit her lies and mistakes.
Why won’t you admit you were wrong and lied? It’s a simple thing to do cubbies. Ignoring reality and refusing to admit that you lied about very simple and provable facts is asinine.
Just be normal and admit you lied.
It’s okay.

conservative leadership
This has nothing to do with party affiliation, it is about money in the pockets of politicians. Louisiana leadership, no matter the party is absolute garbage. Nice try to blame it all on conservatives cubbie.
The bigger question here is, why are our roads not inspected to make the worthy to drive a vehicle on? The obvious answer is corruption, and highways and schools are the last thing to be taken care of.

And what party are most of our politicians affiliated with?
Democrats are corrupt to, too, but it’s the corrupt Republicans that have been screwing our state over for generations.
You won’t be any less MAGA for admitting that.

Generates $22 million annually. Oh, it does something…

Did anyone really think they would eliminate a yearly $10 tax per vehicle?

What's great about this is that all the uninsured motorists will continue to skirt all brake tag requirements, will still get in accidents, and will continue to make insurance costs rise

I stopped getting these a long time ago. If you get a ticket, it’s usually around $200, go get an inspection sticker and show up to court with proof it was done. They throw it out.

Right. This is just another tax on people who play by the rules.

That's because a lot of them are old Democrats that just changed to "Republican" because they couldn't win an election in this state with a "D" behind their name.

Another reason, at this point, I vote down all amendments for increases and continuances of taxes and millages. They've stolen all our money for longer than i care to remember.

why won't you admit you lied cubbies? It’s okay. It happens.
Simply admit you lied. We will start with the easy one.
Say it with me.

Ha jokes on you. Most of the republicans in our state are former democrats who switched for convenience

Our roads wouldn't pass a single inspection but that's not talked about.

That might have been true 30 years ago. I can’t imagine it is now.
That being said, can anyone link a post here of anyone touting the conservative bonafides of the Louisiana Legislature?

The gravy train isn't going to fuel itself without a neverending funding stream...I'm really surprised another bill didn't follow it to double the "tax".
