Educational reform for a modern workforce

Its past time that we completely overhaul schooling in this country. The current model is antiquated and atrocious. It was never optimal in the first place and with current demographics and social conditions and insanity to continue.
Boys are not meant to sit down at a desk all day and be nagged into submission by some woman all day to stay still and act like girls. Its not necessary for the workforce for boys to learn English lit, biology, chemistry, physics, world history, etc. They should be mastering functional algebra, geometry etc. They also should not be in daycare until they are 18 years old. This is just absurd.
If I was dictator, these are the changes id make, feel free to add your ideas:
-Separate boys and girls schools
-Kids start a skills based career path at 9, graduate in age range of 15 or 16
-Only sit down desks when absolutely necessary
-Mandatory physical education/exercise
-School is completely optional after 9 so kids that cause problems are just kicked out
-Athletics programs/band are eliminated BUT facilities are leased out to clubs and leagues for youth sports. Small stipends all kids to participate in community athletics.
-All college prep is privatized
The education would emphasize things we need MORE of:
-Trades
-Machinists
-Entrepreneurs
-Nurses
-Doctors
But parents and kids at a certain point have the option to tailor a custom education plan
If I was dictator, id also provide some tax benefits for apprenticeship programs for 15/16 year olds leaving school

Your words read really young and under educated. For instance, you SHOULD already know that Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin had this debate when our country was founded. We tried it your way, the Ben Franklin way, and it failed every time. Our educational system is based upon building a great nation not training dullards in rabbitry.

This is the only thing you said that wasn’t garbage.

We can agree that kids are probably taught things they don't need to know for most jobs and while doing so leave out important skills. ie geometry instead of household economics and accounting.
The system is designed to develop basic skills for as many people as possible. It's up to the parent to individualize education for each kid based on what's offered in the district they've chosen.

You started with a half valid point that little boys shouldn't be expected to sit still all day... then every word you typed was progressively dumber and more unhinged than the last

What in the frick?

The ones who are too dumb to do chemistry and physics and understand literature likely will be the ones struggling with basic algebra

It's just the opposite. The current model abandoned the old method. In the 1950s if you got a HS diploma it meant you could read, write and do the basic 4 functions in math. Today, over a third of graduates cannot. In some districts 90% cannot. The focus shifted to self esteem and social promotion.

Definitely separate schools for boys and girls.
Have boxing or martial arts for boys. They should learn how to fight.

You made a couple of decent points amid that sea of dumb-assery.

Well, someone has to know those things. How do you know who’s going to be the best chemist if you don’t introduce it to all schoolchildren and see who is attracted to the field?
Your point about exercising and not just sitting all day is a good one. And yes, we need to teach more trades. But there still needs to be an overall well-rounded education so the kids aren’t completely ignorant of certain aspects of life.

Kids that want to become doctors....can take biology. Not a hard concept

Who's gonna teach it to them if the generation before them didn't have to learn it en masse? We can't completely abandon the theory in favor of the practical. We would never progress as a civilization since all the practical applications are based on the theory.

This thread had promise, but it quickly derailed and went full speed off a cliff.

Because we let women run our education system. It’s been a disaster. Isn’t that 4Cubbies chick a teacher? I rest my case

Until the 1980s, kids were generally well behaved in school and this country was near the top in the world in educational achievements. I think the problems in education trace back to the break down of the nuclear family, forced bussing, lack of discipline/banning corporal punishment, and too much involvement of state and federal agencies in local schools.
