If so, what are your thoughts on it? Is it worth the price tag and does it drive better than a Tundra?

They are very hard to get, especially the Overtrail. My local dealer said their list is 200+ people long and they get 6 GXs per month.

Stellar Built just finished putting 74 Weld portals with a full dissent package on a 550. It clears 38s and looks great.

Rode in one and I really liked it. Very nice vehicle, but it drives like a truck based SUV. Smooth ride most of the time but not the best handling rig.

I’d wait a while for Toyota to figure out how to build that turbo V6. I might get the Sequoia instead after they fix the engines since we need a little more interior space.

The GX is my preference though.

I don’t own one but it’s on my shirt list to replace my current GX460. I follow a lot of GX boomerbook groups too.

Pros:
I like the style and the interior is nice
Smooth ride
Power felt good, way better than my 460
Cons:
Still gets shitty mpg
I’m not a fan of the very upright feeling in the driver seat
Groups are reporting some body panel flex and that they aren’t made as sturdy as older models. I test drove it and an LX700h at the same point and there is a noticeable build quality different but then again so is the price.

My mother has one, sportiest Lexus SUV I've ever seen and know of no complaints. It's the first lexus she's ever had that I wouldn't mind owning at all.

similar body to a Range and Lexus is way more reliable

I think they are badass looking. Wife and I went and looked at them but not sure I’m ready to give up the 600 hp of ny current suv.

I like the redesign. As others have said, they are hard to get. Expensive, but so are all the SUVs. Can’t believe what Tahoes and Expeditions are going for.

My parents have been interested in getting one for my Mom, but apparently they are hard to get (at least whatever package/trim they’re looking at is). That’s all I got. From a looks perspective, I like them.

The big negative I've seen is the middle row is way too cramped. We had a friend return it when their Middle school kids had no leg room. I sat in it and it definitely was small. The vehicle looks big, but doesn't have the roomy feel of a Tahoe or Expedition.

We’ve had an Overtrail + since last July (Earth color). It’s been fantastic. We’ve used it both around town and on long trips, it’s very comfortable and quiet, especially for a truck based SUV. It’s our first Lexus and probably won’t be our last. Paid MSRP, and I think it’s worth it. They actually may have initially underpriced it vs the competition and it’s a great option to the Lexus LX. The 2025 GX had a decent price increase in the Luxury and OT trims.

The engine and transmission pairing is super smooth, for a vehicle its size it has no lag whatsoever when you hit the gas. As mentioned, the looks are amazing, we’ve been stopped multiple times by people asking about it. Came out of a restaurant last week and a woman was taking pictures of it.

The gas mileage isn’t great (average a little over 17 mpg), but our 2012 MDX was about the same, so don’t really mind. If you’re looking for a 3 row SUV the TX is a better option, but I’m not a fan of the TX styling and we didn’t need a 3rd row anyway.

We searched all over the country for one. You pretty much can't get the damn things. She ended up with the GX460, which she loves, but I don't particularly care for. Too small

I have had an overtrail since July last year. I have almost 17k miles on the clock. It has been a roller coaster of love and dislike.

I love the style. It is a beautiful vehicle.

Within a week of ownership, I took it to Colorado with the family and the dog with a Thule box on top. Went off-roading and it performed beautifully. On this trip, I took a small rock to the windshield that has progressed to a very larger crack. I cannot bring myself to repair it as replacement is like $2000. Even if I wanted to repair it, it is on back order and impossible to get.

The gas mileage is about 15.7 all around. The gas tank is less than 20 gallons and the range before refuel is less than 300 miles.

When I returned from out west I removed my Thule box and the wind noise with the stock roof rack was maddening. The hood also had a very noticeable flutter. The fit and finish of the GX became less and less appealing. It was simply not built like prior Lexus vehicles. I have owned 2 LX570s and a GX470. The 550 is not up to par.

I removed the roof rack and had the dealership do the factory suggested repair on the hood. This greatly improved the feel and solidity of the vehicle. Then I started noticing the shifting of the 10 speed tranny. In low gears it was very jerky. Again, not like previous Lexus vehicles.

The dealership tightened and lined the driveshaft and thus seemed to improve.

I like the power and the looks of this car. I do not like the quality of the build as compared to other Lexus’s. I am currently on the climb of the roller coaster, hoping it stays that way for me. My warranty ends at 20k miles and may have a bearing on the future of my ride.

If I had to do it over again, I’d get a 2016+ LX570. If I had the money, I’d get an LX600.

AMA and I’m happy to answer.

The Wife has a TX350. Love it but the Marc Levinson stereo sucks! If it has the same stereo listen to it before you buy and do not pay for it. Apparently there is a fix in the works but it’s an opportunity to knock 1k off it it sucks like mine does. I do notice the fit and finish also not up to historical Lexus quality.

My wife drives one. Its pretty nice. No complaints so far. She had an expedition before that, and she much prefers the GX over the Expedtiion. I've driven it a good bit of time and it drives great. My only complaint is the lane correction stuff. It'll jerk you back in your lane if you try to change lanes without using a blinker. One other positive is it doesnt have the engine start stop crap on it.

We got lucky with getting one. Know a guy who got me on the priority waitlist. Thought it would take months and they called me a week after getting on the list telling me they had one meeting our specs.

We got the premium+ trim, but I sold the tires and wheels and bought a set of the luxury model takeoffs with no miles on them. Def prefer the 22" over the 20" premium+ wheels.

Wife had a GX460. Hit a deer and totaled. Drove a midsized luxury SUV for a month while waiting to find a 550. Put a deposit down on one, drove 150 miles to test drive it. It’s a truck based SUV. Could not go back tot the truck base after driving a midsize SUV for a month. Loved the GX460 but you forget how they ride after not driving for a while. That’s a huge plus for some and a huge minus for others.

This is a great answer. 200 series Land cruisers are collector cars now still selling over MSRP nearly 5 years later. LX570s have retained their value but you can get very nice ones in the $60k range.

Just throwing this out there for those shopping for their wife that hauls around kids. Check out the Mercedes GLE. Amazing tech, amazing driving experience, huge amount of rear seat leg room, optional 3rd row that doesn’t take up a lot of cargo area (an issue for Toyota and Lexus right now), and decent gas mileage. It’s roughly the same price as the GX.

I sold my 2009 LX at 230k miles. I wish I’d just put the money into it that it needed. I will end up keeping my wife’s 2010 LX for me and upgrading her to something newer. It only has 160k miles on it but the kids have beat up the interior pretty badly.

I have one. Have been driving it for 6 weeks or so now. Edit: own the luxury trim.

Gas mileage is crap for a V6 but you already know that going into it. Rumors that Lexus are going hybrid on these as early as 2026 models to offset this.

Only real complaint is that the interior panels smudge extremely easy. If you open a door by pushing out on anything other than the handle, you're likely leaving an extremely noticable smudge. Incredibly easy to clean off, so just a minor complaint. More of an inconvenience.

My windshield got cracked by a rock 3 days after owning (small crack about a nickle size). Might just be incredibly bad luck but I have seen concerns/complaints on message boards that the windshield being more upright might cause it to crack easier. So who knows. Think I probably went 10 years since my last windshield cracked.

Good point. Forgot to mention that. Very small gas tank. 260 miles on full tank means you'll be at a gas station often if you drive a ton.
