Has anyone been to the new location yet? Saw a review on Facebook that was less than stellar with small portions and high prices. Also saw no apple slice on the side like they did in the old location.

You must have seen some of the reviews I read. I expected comments about high prices from the old folks who were somehow thinking it would be just like 15 years ago.
Some of the service issues seemed somewhat concerning if they were all true, especially the one about manager turnover already.

High prices I can stand if it’s still good food/value, from the few reviews I read that wasn’t the case.

I didn’t read any of those, though with a place just opening that isn’t super surprising.

They were known for cheap prices so there is going to be some system shock for fans of the old location.

I think it’s a nephew or someone in the family.

Have not been.
I used to like the old place in Fat City but the big draw was cheap steaks in a lively bar atmosphere.

There’s some big outside money behind the new CJs. A family member is the “face guy”

Have beef prices tripled since then? I saw their filet is now $35. So, in other words, basically current standard pricing for a lower to mid range sort of place.

The place’s calling card was never that it was a great midrange steakhouse. It was that you could get an okay steak meal for insanely cheap, like $12.99. Hence the “Crazy” part of their name. To go with some relatively cheap hard poured cocktails.

I don’t get what the calling card is for selling a sort of sad looking filet in a drab place on Vets for $35 is.

They chose to bring that name back, and with it there needs to be “crazy” cheap cuts of meat and a lively neighborhood spot/bar atmosphere. You can get away with cheap beef in a bar still in 2025.

Rivershack in Gretna has steak night on Thursdays. $15 get you 12oz Ribeyes w/ Loaded Mashed Potatoes & $4 House Wines.

$15 that’s it. Yes you can still see the marks where the jockey hit it, but it’s a steak in a bar and it draws a crowd.

That said, I will 100% to check out a stuffed artichoke and a filet poboy at some point.

They aren't going to be able to do that paying Veterans Hwy Rent

Rent, labor, and insurance probably have.

I seem to remember paying ~$5 for a Filet Poboy and a side of mash potatoes circa ~2000. Was that really the price, does anyone else remember visiting this place at the turn of the century?

This is what I remember. The filet tips with a unsweetened tea was $8 plus tax/tip.

It wasn't a huge portion by any means, but was great for lunch.
