What ever happened to dance clubs?

Watching teens and young and old alike in the UK dancing whilst reviving the 70’s Motown music sounds, and apparently it’s a big thing there, which got me thinking what happened to all the dance clubs we had when I was younger. Do kids even dance anymore, or is that not a thing anymore?

There will be almost three quarter of a million people at Coachella over the next two weeks

Don’t think they are much of a thing with the young crowd in the US these days.

Gen X raised a bunch of nerds. Covid converted those nerds into introverts who live in the online space.

The Heat in New Orleans. Burning an Alabama flag for the win.

Seems dancing might break them out of that funk. I can’t tell you how many dates came about from dancing. Need to air those kids out and socialize them. Maybe they won’t be so miserable.

Hell, you have to be basically out of LSU before you are old enough to drink a beer nowadays. By the time kids are old enough to get into dance clubs, they have outgrown them!

Well, we used to socialize without the use of an electronic devise. It made you have to go talk to real life people and get to know them.

Guess it’s best not to ever leave the house again.

Why are you such an old miserable count?

Dancing, historically, was a socially acceptable way to break sex-based social rules. “New” dances came about as social rules became more laxed, which meant the dancing needed to become more provocative to push the envelope. We no longer really have sex-based social rules, so dancing no longer serves any real social purpose. Doesn’t mean it isn’t fun, but it just doesn’t mean the same thing to people that it used to, even if they don’t understand why.

Im not at all miserable. I lived my life, and we had a lot of fun. I just feel bad for these young people today. They don’t seem very happy to me at all, and I think studies confirm that.
